World Record. 1966 Riva Aquarama. SOLD! $775,000
40 minutes late to the Mecum auction in Florida scheduled at 3:50 PM The Riva Aquarama we have been advertising is SOLD! In what apears to be high drama with bidders on the cell phones and batteries going dead. The deal is done. A record $750,000 smackaroos. And from what I have seen about this boat.. It’s worth every penny. What an exciting day…
The cars before and after were going pretty weak on the sellers side (1965 427 side oiler Cobra for $72,000!). I was thinking no one is going to bid on this poor thing! Congratulations to both the new owners and the seller!
What happened….I had my 70 bucks already to go????
I know, I know. I only got about 560,000 in checks in the mail. I guess we ran out of time… by the way, I have moved to Mexico..
With the 12% non-auto Mecum buyer's premium, the Riva actually sold for $930,000 plus sales tax.
Million Dollar Baby.I think I'll buy a boat for each weak of the year instead.
Whoops, it was a 10% buyers premium – it was actually $852,500
Even the premium is out of my range! Guess I'll have to keep the Sportsman for another year.
Scott, congratulations on the sale of #125. We will miss seeing her at Tavares but it's good to know that she will be well taken care of by her new owners. This auction has elevated our hobby tremendously as many folks nation wide watched with keen interest.
I nominate you as Woody Boater of the Decade.
Al
It certainly was an exciting day! The new owner will use her as a tender on a 160' yacht. The gentlemen representing the owner assured us that #125 will be maintained to the same condition it is currently in. We are very pleased she will be cared for by such a knowledgeable organization.
