9 Rides Truly Wired Gearheads Should Love – Hey, We Can Relate To This Story
Fellow Woody Boater Mark Christensen found this great story on line at a website called wired.com / Autopia and we thought it would be fun to share it with the Woody Boater community.

On Bill Barber’s Photostream page, he notes that the photo of the Chris-Craft was converted from an original slide-image. Great vintage photo… Looks like an 18′ Chris-Craft Riviera which, based on the deck hardware, was originally powered by a 131 HP Hercules KBL straight-6 … with those snazzy aftermarket grab bars – Just sayin’
What’s your fantasy car, boat, motorcycle, train, plane ride?
Texx
Since I already have the Chris Craft, the fantasy toy would have to be a Cessna Corvalis TT. A cruise speed of 260 mph will get you to all the woodyboater events around the country in comfort and style and in a fraction of the time it takes on a Harley.
It would have to be a, De Haviland Twin Otter ON FLOATS
Can you imagine taxiing up to Sierra Boat Co. with all your friends on board. Then throwing the anchor out and taking your 16` Launch out thru the cargo doors and motoring over for a few Wet Woodys?
The problem with the Otter is you might have to sell the 16′ launch at the end of the weekend to buy enough gas to get her home! Although, I gues if you can afford the twin otter, you may be able to afford the fuel bills even without paying passengers and cargo.
“been there, done that”
One of Sierra Boats customers used to pull his Grumman Widgeon up on the beach next door and then board his CC 38′ Commuter for a picnic on the lake. Was exciting watching him lift the loaded plane off in the late afternoon swells…..
Gasping for air at 6,200 ft…
Hey Texx. My pick would be
Boat. Thunderbird
Plane. DeHavilland Mosquito
Bike. The Britten Race bike
Train. Bullet
Car. Lancia 032
That was fun….. better get off to work.
I got my fantasy ride this year on Miss America IX. I’ve been wanting to do that since I first saw her….. Can still feel the wind in my hair and I’m still dancing at the memory.
Thanks Chuck!
