ACBS International Lake Geneva – Thursday Sneak Peek And Some Century Afterglow
After spending a good part of the day in the air on board a few flying cattle cars, we finally arrived at the Abbey Resort at Lake Geneva this evening. Managed to get down to the docks and snap a few shots as the sun was setting over beautiful Lake Geneva.
What a great venue for one the best antique & classic boat shows in the country, and we will do our best to cover the show and auction for our viewers that couldn’t make it to Wisconsin this year. We spoke to many of the boat owners, and participants who commented that the Blackhawk & Glacier Lakes ACBS Chapters and ACBS HQ was doing a fantastic job organizing this years big event.
We met Wooden Boat Restoration Guru and noted author Don Danenberg on the dock as he was checking out “BarnWood”. Don’s a very cool guy who knows these old boats inside and out…
Then our favorite all aluminum mystery boat “Tin Can” pulled in to the dock, and we had an opportunity to spend some time visiting with Jeff the owner. More on this boat tomorrow, after we go for a test ride.
Then, after sunset on to the Marque Club ACBS Auction After Glow Party down the street at Gordy’s Boat House Cobalt Lounge. And as expected, it was hit with lots of folks doing what they do best, just “Talkin Boats”. Fellow Woody Boater’s and newly deputized roving reporters Mike and Nicole Mayer snapped a few shots from the After Glow Party. Here’s our favorite hard to get hardware builder / supplier Al Schinnerer from California Classic Boats enjoying another visit with Carla from Hagerty Marine Insurance and her friend.
Cenntury Boat Club member and tonights event organizer Sir Thomas Holm sharing a laugh and a soda with “Barnwoods” Paul Harrison.
Looks like everyone is getting into the groove in Lake Geneva and having a good time before the boat show and judging kicks off tomorrow morning.
Stay tuned to Woody Boater for daily Live-ish updates from the event throughout the weekend.

It’s good to be Al!
Very exciting. Looking foward to all those boats.
Texx, good report. Dang, I wish I was there. We ran into some folks in Quincy last weekend that are at Lake Geneva now to enjoy the International Event. I thought of stowing away in one of their boats but the twin granddaughters wouldn’t have approved. I’m stuck at Lake of the Ozarks babysitting them this weekend.
Keep an eye out for Bob & Chris Ann (Smith) Braaf (Chris Smith’s daughter) from Colorado with their Chris-Craft 28′ cruiser named Chris’ Craft II. Very nice folks.
And, did you notice that Carla’s friend is wearing a Harley Davidson shirt? A biker gal!
Thanks Al, we will watch for them here. Sorry you couldn’t make it, but we understand. Stay tuned, and watch the show from your computer and Lazy Boy chair.
Maybe open a can of varnish for effect…
