After Careful Consideration We Have Decided To Change Our Name! Meet The New “Fiberwoody Boater!
We have been talking about this for years, agonizing over the change that’s happening in the hobby. But after going to the Florida Show it dawned on us that most of the fun was spent in Classic Plastic. There was an energy and joy to it all. Screaming around the water, bold colors and a very fun active crowd. But we also like the woodys, the romance, history, varnish… ugh, oh to decide….So we decided to play it safe and combine the two.
So we have made the choice to change our brand name to Fiberwoody Boater and sell Woody Boater to a porn company which sadly is part of an audience that finds us now. I am sure they are disappointed when they see the subject matter. Now we can make everyone happy and just play the middle.
Along with all this exciting change, we have hired an editor from the Christen Science Monitor to make sure we stay neutral and all the spelling is good! Maybe some grammar to?
Anyway, it’s been a true pleasure writing these stories, and getting to know all of you for the past 8 years. But after Florida and all the fun, I have burned out and can’t keep it going. If I take one more ride on a cool insane over powered boat I will explode. Not literally, it’s a figure of speech. The “Boatress”, now will be known as the “Truckness” since we will be moving to Wyoming and doing a website called Mother Trucker, a website on bad ass pick up trucks! Really, all those guys have Moms.. Think of it, an entire site of Truckers and their Moms.. It’s perfect, they will never see my bad spelling and bad grammers. So sadly this is our last post, please stay tuned tomorrow for the all new Fiberwoody Boater.
Just a suggestion from a long time WoodyBoater that also enjoys water craft constructed of materials other than wood. If you are really going to do this thing (not just kidding), I suggest the name ClassicBoater, that is truly generic, and will include such boats as cool Feathercrafts, etc..
Thanks Greg, we own the domain Classic Boater and had considered that, But Fiberwoody seemed to just capture it all in a fun way and is a unique name that folks can remember. Now if you will excuse me, I am photographing a 1958 Pickup and the owners Mom Martha.
My first mate just reminded me of today being April Fools Day. DUH !!!
Pinch me, I think I’m dreaming!
Say it ain’t so, Joe!
Why not WoodyFibre Boater?!?!
Matt if I remember right, isn’t today your birthday?
Yes it is! I am 32
Darn! Now I need to buy a whole new wardrobe!
Check out the store, all new items. The cups sure are popular, over 40 sold in the past two days, 75 in Florida in 5 hours. The new long sleave BLUE shirt with our old logo on the sleave
Boy this new name goes right along with what I’m thinking of doing with my hacker and chris…Fiberglass them!!!.. I’m so tired of all the yearly manintaince..glass them and be done..then they fit right in on your new site …..fiberwoody
BTW….why does coffee taste so much better in a woodyboater cup…if you change name on cups to fiberwoody..wount that leave a plastic taste in your mouth?
Exactly, genus idea!
I LOVE this woodyboater website and if you change the mane (spelling) I will no longer keep it on my desktop, And I will sell ( or try to give away) all my woodyboater merchandise.
Happy April Fools Day!
A Fiberwoody I believe is the medical term for taking a Cialis pill with a glass of Metamucil.
That was too easy!
FiberWoody makes me think of something I saw in a store in Venice.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Matt!
Happy Birthday, Matt!
All this is a believable as today’s cartoon that says Dennis isn’t going to visit Mr. Wilson any more. Look forward to tomorrow when it is back to Woody boater.
This is what we came home to after leaving the Sunnyland Show. I wish this was an April Fools joke, but it’s the real thing! Great show and river cruise. Thanks to all that made it happen.
On the outside chance that the name change is legit…I don’t care. The site is great. The content is well presented, interesting and informative. Call it whatever you want. A rose is a rose.
I am GOING BOATING today….no FOOLING……
That gal in Troy’s truck must have a MOTHER somewhere….as suggested by Matt……
she would be just the right age for me…..and given the stern view of the daughter…no jeans just genes……hook me up!
Happy April Fool and Birthday to all concerned. Dora was great, lunch a classic, club meeting a special gathering.
John in Va.
Hey John in VA
I may be able to post on the new site, but it looks like I am still restricted here. Glad you say it.
I love those woodie boats but have been a classic glass guy only forever. I’ve admired those Woodie Boater T shirts, hats , jackets etc. since finding this site but could never bring myself to wearing one, my friends would think I’d gone over the top! flipped my lid, gone totally bonkers!! …. but now finally I can!! This makes my day!! Oh well if the name change really doesn’t happen maybe I’ll order one of those fine hats anyway.
LOL!
All this April Fool’s stuff had me distracted and I almost for got to flip the page on my Bob Kays calendar!
Rich, anytime the street signs say you are headed toward Buffalo or Cleveland you are heading the wrong way!
If you’re going to update the site I guess I’ll update Panther. Tired of that Hercules breaking down so I think I’m going to add and extended bracket off the transom and go with some nice Yamaha power. Should be a good look.
Made it home in one piece missed the wet snowy roads north of Pittsburgh as by then this was clear. My farvorite classic glass at the show this year was Larry big Carlson. She was on the cruise and looked perfect on the river. the interior is a good as the outside
After many years of observing the demographics of the classic boat crowd any title with the word “fiber” in it seems appropriate.
So, does this mean our ’38 Tolly actually has a home/website where it really fits in??? After all, it is a plywood, fir and mahogany boat that is fully fiberglassed! Cool!
Happy Birthday and as always, – it is April 1st… 😉
There were a lot of great boats at Tavares, fiberglass and wood, but given my choice, here’s the one I’d take home:
good choice!
length? Year? name? I’m a little too young for all this fiber..
In order to own a boat like “Fascination” you either have to own stock in Hyundai or have a replacement Hyundai on hand at all times.
Matt no matter what day it is, it’s never good to wake the sleeping lions. You may never be whole again! But this may be your way for testing the water! Anyhow would like to discuss that more but don’t have the time right how and I’m in the field so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
PS I’m on my 20th 29th birthday I only get better looking and never age the world just ages and falls apart around me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
Bring it!! We’re ready.
This afternoon’s satellite pass over the Finger Lakes brings hope, no joke! Real LIQUID WATER is starting to spread in the northwestern branch of Keuka lake.
oops forgot the image…
If this is true, Im all for it. After working with Ronnys Marine on our Boat show at RPM this year I am overwhelmed with the response we are getting on the Classic Glass boats.Last year I was docked marks at an ACBS show for not having the original colour of stain on my Mahogany boat,at-least with the glass boats we dont have to look at the same colour
keep it woodyboater, glass has their own fiber website, it’s called fiberglassics. keep woodyboater true to it’s name. an occasional vintage glass boat is fine, i have 4 woodys, 2 aluminun and 2 glassics. nothing againist any boat but if i want to see wood, glass or other i go to their specific site. my 2 cents.
