Art Of Excellence 2012 – An Outstanding Video About Carlo Riva And Some Memorable Images
The 2012 Riva Days celebrations in Italy are now in the record books. Brian and Shelly Robinson arrived home from Italy to southern California late last night. During their 3 hour stop over in Newark, NJ yesterday, I spoke to Brian by phone. He said it was a wonderful experience and they were delighted to be there for this historical gathering of Riva boats and enthusiasts from around the world.
We discussed the fact that the Riva marque often doesn’t get the recognition it deserves in some parts of the country, possibly because these boats are rare and expensive, maybe out of reach for many of us. But the impact that Carlo Riva and the Riva marque has had on the history of classic boating throughout the world is simply remarkable.
When we were at the Lake Tahoe Concours back in August, I asked one of the top wooden boat restoration guys in the country… “Money not being an issue, if you could own any classic wooden pleasure boat, what would it be?” He immediately responded “Hands Down – A Riva” and then smiled.
We had fun covering the events from Italy last week, Brian said he had a few fun photos from the event to share and we discussed the fact that everyone here at Woody Boater may have had enough coverage from the events in Italy. But we thought that this would be a fitting way to wrap up our coverage, with a few more shots of people having fun, taking in the sites and sounds from Italy and an outstanding YouTube video for everyone to enjoy.
Some friends from America joining in on the celebration with the folks from Italy, and around the world. I wonder how many photographs were shot that week?

A perfect way to wrap up our coverage of the Riva Historical Society’s 2012 Riva Days event in Italy, with this touching video about the life and times of Carlo Riva – The Legend.
