Bone Breaking News – Bill Basler Update!

We interrupt the dumbness of April Fools Day to give you a live-ish update on Fellow Woody Boater Bill Basler. We have officially spoken to him on the phone. Bill called me to personally thank the entire Wood Boat Community for all there good feeling and comments. He is reading them, and if very aware of whats going on. It does hurt to laugh, so of course I did everything i could to do so! He will be in the hospital for a while and is required to stay flat on his back while things heal. From what I could gather, I did not take notes, but just about every bone in his body was broken, legs, arms, 7 ribs, two places in his neck, basecly that entire song about the neck bone is connected to the whatever bone..they are all broken. His jaw is wired shut as well. Blended fish tastes about as good as it sounds. He also had punctured lungs and it was very bad at the start. He was out of it for two weeks. His wife Michelle slept in the room for the entire time. Bills family is everything to him, and one of the true healing factors in his life now. He is beyond grateful to them all. His left arm is damaged badly and he will need some more work on that to get back to his normal self. Bill is left handed and a true artist.

How it happened. According to Bill, he was driving to a meeting with two others on the morning in his Suburban, no real dramatic weather on I 80 which is a huge interstate. All he recalls is an explosion of snow on his left and it was a car pickup truck with a trailer that for what ever reason crossed over the medium, broke through wires and hit Bill head on on his side in front of him. Everyone in the other truck and passengers are OK. It took 2 hours to cut Bill out of the Suburban, he recalls being very cold, and then placed into a chopper, and that is all he recalls for two weeks. A funny/strange side note. The other truck was full of 4 women, who had never trailered a trailer, loaded with Anime stuff headed to a Anime convention. What the?

The Good News. He has his famous sense of humor and knows whats going on. He was asking about Florida and all that’s going on in the hobby. And completely understood that an order of Mahogany got front billing to his update. We had a good laugh over that. OK I did, he was in pain.. He is reading, cant really comment or participate but is reading. And extremely board, which is a great sign. So comment, or you can email him and he will respond.
