Century Boats. Fantastic Club Web Site.

Yes, Chris Craft is the big name, as are others like Garwood, and Hacker Craft. But when it comes to real cool design of the era, Century Boats really pushed the envelope. Each boat had a little something more to it. Great horse eye rings, funky roof design, lots of chrome and great stain options. It’s a funny thing when it comes to such trendy design. It works durring the time of being new, but ages very quickly. But, after time that very design becomes iconic. That really tells the story of Century Boats. There is a ton of great stuff on the web, and in Bob Speltz’s books, he was a huge fan as well. One of the best web sites on Century Boats is www.centuryboatclub.com Great photo’s a nicely written history, and well organized.

Century Boat Club does have a very nice web site. My brother-in-law built a scale model of a 1939 Century Thunderbolt Racing boat while he was ill with a terminal lung disease. The Century Boat Club was very helpful in providing details he needed to finish the decking correctly before he passed on. He worked on the day before he died this past March.

Love the web site. My father had a few of these when I was a child, and I still remember the Coronodo. In fact I still have a picture of it on my desk when I was real young with me behind the wheel. I remember the spring deck preparation, the sound and the sheer power from back then..Such great memories!!!! Happy New Year to you all…
