Hacker-Craft on NBC Today Show Tomorrow Morning,
Friday, October 28th.
Beautiful mahogany boat a “fantasy gift” in this season’s Neiman Marcus Christmas Book catalog October 27, 2011, Silver Bay, NY – Tomorrow morning, on the NBC Today Show, Ginger Reeder, VP of Communications, Neiman Marcus Group, Inc., will present a custom designed Hacker-Craft as one of the fantasy gifts in this year’s legendary Neiman Marcus Christmas Book catalog.
Ms. Reeder said of Hacker-Craft’s selection, “We look for the best. If we’re looking for a speedboat, we have to find the best on the market.”
The Neiman Marcus Edition Hacker-Craft is being transported to New York City this afternoon in preparation for loading-in, at midnight tonight, at the site of the Today Show at Rockefeller Center.
The broadcast will follow last Tuesday’s announcement of this year’s fantasy gifts, which resulted in 542 stories in broadcast media with 20.8 million viewers, in addition to readership of 3 million+ in print media and tens of millions of mentions in cyberspace.
Since 1939, Neiman Marcus has issued an annual Christmas catalog, a tradition of unusual and extravagant gifts not sold in its stores. In 1952, Stanley Marcus introduced a new tradition of having extravagant and unusual gifts in each year’s Christmas catalog, The Christmas Book. At one point, the Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog carried the distinction of being the item most stolen from recipients’ mailboxes, prompting a Chicago postmaster to suggest the company switch to enclosing the catalogs in plain brown wrappers.
Two Hacker-Craft are on display today though next Monday at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, land spaces 1086 & 1087, at the S.E. corner of the 400/500 tent.
The Hacker Boat Company is the largest American manufacturer of classic mahogany motorboats. The company’s corporate headquarter and storage facilities are located near and on the shoreline of Lake George, NY. Production and restoration facilities are located in historic Ticonderoga, NY.
Each Hacker-Craft is hand crafted by master boat building craftsmen who labor over 1500 hours to build every boat. The Hacker Boat Company builds runabouts, sport boats, launches and utilities from 24 to 35 feet in length. The company also builds custom designed boats.
Since the 1930s Hacker-Crafts have been hailed as the “Steinway of Runabouts®” and were named by Forbes Magazine FYI as being “50 of America’s Best” products.

I think we need a special edition WoodyBoater Hacker. I am not sure what all the special touches should be, but it definitely should come with a jar of Grey Poupon.
It would also need to have Hacker-Craft misspelled. And lots of bumpers for docking.
The mis-spelling would be hilarious! I am not sure about the bumpers though. We only need those if we let Matt drive. He seems to do his best work from the passenger seat or an inner tube so I think it would be better to reserve the helm for more qualified skippers.
I am thinking a 22-24 foot double cockpit forward runabout would be a good model to build off of.
In the works.. It will also have a dougnut maker and color matched shoes. And hats, gotta have hats.. Orange bottom..
It’s really great to see wooden boats going main stream on national television. Nice work guys!
If we could only get Matt to provide live commentary…
How about a nice mahogany 5 gal bucket with a brass handle and a nice bit of plush leather around the top rim/edge to ensure that nothing gets scratched up.
Oh, and perhaps a few real leaves used as the background of the gauges.
The mispelled Hacker thing caused me to spit out my coffee on my key board.. SO Mr Funny pants.. Todays story will be late
You can veiw the clip here.. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/ you will need to look for the clip.. and sit through an ad..
Don’t pick on W Matt, he is doing the best he can. I assume the WoodyBoater HackerKraft is in 1/24th scale for the bathtub, and winter boating.
Because of my dedication to “the life style,” for the first time I just watched the Today show – I feel so dirty. Rinse, clean, back to my normal viewing habits.
HA, well, they kinda butchered it, but.. We are such a small niche, and cars are still king.. What is great, is that the hacker was first, and in the same camp as the car.. The hackers and Rivas are elevating the entire market. People still love the luxery of fine wood boats.. Its the entire dirty fingernail part they dont want.. ITS ABOUT THE LIFESTYLE!
