How Many Tow Trucks Does It Take To Off Load A Boat From A Hay Wagon?
In the second of this weeks Pettit Gettit Done Week special, we feature Joe Lepley from Annandale, MN and his fun feild find. Gotta love the creativity it takes to GETTIT DONE! Here is the story and fun snap shots from Joe.
In early October, I contacted you about a ’58 Correct Craft Star-Flite I came across here is the Annandale area, west of Minneapolis. It was upside down on an old hay wagon. The hay wagon was not road worthy and there wasn’t any obvious way to get the boat off the hay wagon and on to a trailer. Turns out the owner is good friends with a local towing company that services interstate 94 around Clearwater, MN.
Needless to say, these guys really know what they’re doing and it took them less than an hour to do this! The boat is now tucked away in my storage building where it will be out of the elements for the first time in many years.
Thanks!
Joe Lepley
Nice find Joe!
Your fleet continues to grow.
GREAT to see another on saved!
GIT R DONE Joe!
Mater would be impressed!
Love it! How does one “come across ” a finned wooden classic on a hay wagon? That’s the makings of a great story.
this one wasnt on a hay wagon but i did save it from being made into a bar.
someday ill finish it!
I love the boat flipping stories…Keep em coming!
Me too. Squee’ek uh’k kk’kkkk squeek eee’eek!
My Lyman almost got made into a bar too. Fortunately, it was too big for the intended space and ended up on Craigslist so that I could buy it, or I should buy it back. I owned this very boat from 1994 to 2006, sold it for $1000 and just this summer, by sheer luck (or was it fate) found it again, at least two owners later, for $200. Best of all, the title had never been transferred and was still in my name. So, I guess you’d say the original buyer paid me $800 for the privilege of storing it for nine years. Of course, I had to buy a new trailer to get the boat from Ohio to northern Illinois where I now live. So much for a bargain!
This great little boat is now on a good trailer and stored inside.
My barn is now full for the winter – no more room for strays.
I am looking for a new owner for the boat who will enjoy restoring the boat and getting it water ready. If you or somebody you know is interested, let me know!
