Yes, I Actually Do Work For A Living. HA, Ugh

The new look for my other office
Remember that Coke sign I was working on in New Orleans? Well, she has a new life after some lettering at the Railway, and now is perched in the small conference room at the office I actually do work up in Northern VA.

You may recall this, SCLP TREATMENT was not treatable or savable. So I repurposed it. And this was AFTER being cleaned up..
When Covid hit, we all ran for the hills laptops in tow. So instead of shutting the doors, we remodeled. New floors, and new look, clean……clean…clean. People want clean these days.

From Outside

The entry to the office. The TV works! The TV stations that used to broadcast dont! Ha, Ugh

Over the years I have collected various signs. Paid 50$ for the coke machine in 1982

Getting ready
And vintage stuff seem to find its way out the door. But some of it was saved and is being very selectively placed back for me. I need history around me. It comforts me. But to a 20 year old caffeine addicted person, vintage is a playstation. Ha.. UGH.. I feel older every day. I could be some of these kids grand parents.. WTF! I am older than some of there parents. Anyway I digress.

Thats over 500 rolls of Toilet Paper. Long story. But part of the history of the agency

The oars I painted last year. We are all oars, and work best when working together.. Get it. All the same direction? YA, Ugh

Repurposed an old drafting table we have used for 20 years. New kitchen. Found the coke sign on the Cabinets in a dumpster! Yup, HA, Ugh
Here are some shots of my other office, the one that MAKES money! HA, ugh.. The Company website is SMITHGIFFORD.COM HERE
Nice
Glad to hear that you do work 😃
Love it all! The TV takes me back to my TV repairman service call days. Nothing sadder than the look on the familie’s faces when I had to announce, “Sorry, but it’s going to have to go to the shop.” Now, disposable flat screens!
I know I just bought one for 150 bucks, pasted on the wall and done. What change has brought. For the better by the way, dont need plyers to change the channels and some clothes hangers with tin foil. HA, Ugh
Looks like your “taste” chose Coke
To be continued . . .
did you hand paint those letters or go with vinyl?
not even going to ask how you mow the wall
mike
The new office looks good, but I miss Stinky in the lobby!
Yes hand painted, the sign rebuilt, and hanging with two carabiners on eye hooks screwed into some masonary locks.
Liking the ’50s vibe & repurposing vintage things. But have to say I find the Coke stuff a turn-off & would be concerned that potential clients would as well. I doubt I’m the only one who finds their blatantly racist, anti-white campaigns highly distasteful.
Must be one of their clients, but I agree with your sentiment………..I only buy Pepsi now.
We feel the same way, The company done this to themselves, If they had just kept their feelings to themselves. We use no Coke products today as a result.
From some investigating, this was a presentation done I think in India by a hired person on Linked in, Coke was horrified and it was taken down. I worked on Coke stuff, and that company is so PC its up there with every other global brand. This was Gotcha screen grab stuff that escalated to internet fame cause its so stupid. The became politicized and so on. BTW, there is actually some very cool history on politics and sodas. WW2 was a huge deal for COKE, they built bottling plants around the world for GI’s Cool part of American history.
Well. Now you have enough toilet paper stored for the next pandemic.
Office looks nice.
WOW, didnt see that coming. When Coke ads are offensive I tap out of it all. HA, UGH
Sorry Matt, but they are OFFENSIVE……..they should stick to manufacturing coke and NOT politics.
We used to buy lots of coke, but not anymore.
Amen, Art.
Been a Pepsi guy.
but the office stuff is very neat…thanks for sharing.
John in Va.
I would have thought you’d have more “stuff” but I guess cluttered walls equals cluttered minds? I’m miffed that businesses feel it necessary to “pick a side” when doing so is going to alienate the other half that or find that “side” to be against their beliefs. That is even reflected in the spokesperson they decide to use to push their product. Some of this is a response to groups pressuring them for support or they’ll bring a boycott but they can respond with “we support all xyz”. Of course that’s not good enough for some radical groups which is why this country is becoming so polarized by giving the squeaky wheel a larger megaphone.
Well said, Floyd.
I do love the repurposed older industrial building “look”. If I can only find one for myself but we’re in farming country and can’t even find an old barn that the termites haven’t gotten to.
Very nice Matt. When do you get your staff back in this sparkling new space?
I was not going to comment on the Coke controversy. I just couldn’t resist.
The Pause that Refreshes
waiting to see the second room!
I chuckle at some of the comments . because I think Matt has no agenda by placing the sign . Other than the pure artistic value .
But in today’s society of Wokeness, nothing is out of bounds for someone to scrutinize . If it was a Pabst sign someone would be put out for some obscure reason.
But the truth is no matter how blogs try to avoid politics . politics is part of our daily life .
Lets Go Brandon !
I must be on the wrong site. I though the comments would be about boats and memorabilia, not get in to politics. This is why we can’t have anything nice around here.
Matt, love the clean look of the offices.
