It’s Friday! Get Out There….To Soon? We Need A Name.

Cold runs – Warm dreams

It’s that time of year when it kinda looks like a wonderful day on the boat. Or not? or yes, or not. At least thats the way it is here in Virginia. I know up north its clearly less of a grey area. Or maybe its still a grey area. As in grey skies, grey trees and so on. The complete opposite of the last gasp.

Working on stuff in the barn

Do we need a name for this time? Of course we do. “The first splash”, or First plop! Since the Last Gasp so defines the time of year when we stretch out our love, this is that time of year of hope, looking forward, and a summer of slow sunset rumble cruising.

That magic moment of flat water, sunsets, and family

HAPPY HEADER DAY. This time each time you come back to see the names you get a new/old header. These are headers from our past. Used only once! Just hit refresh and you will see one of over thousands of headers.

    AMEN
The Lord gives us the seasons to appreciate when the ice goes off the lake, the sun becomes warmer and the rumble of boat takes over. AMEN!

Interesting…Tornado warnings here in N. Florida. Looks like 6/8 ft. seas out in the Gulf . Don’t think I’ll go boating here today.

Depends where up north you are. Here in the northeast it is warm enough today (70) but cloudy and showery.

Besides after 3 years of maintenance free bliss Rocket Man is due for some varnish refresh so it will be a little while.

On Wednesday of this week the main part of Lake Charlevoix in Northern Michigan was ice covered. It rained that night and the next morning the ice was gone [got heavy and sank?]. Still too cold to go boating but hope is in sight. For this climate I nominate the first day of boating as “About Freaking Time” day!

Lightly Turns To Thoughts Of Love… Boatin”
This is the title of my next Classic Corner article in the Great Lakes Scuttlebutt boatin magazine, (Shameless plug).
Talks about if you were thinking of selling your boat in the fall but glad you didn’t come spring “LAUNCH TIME”.

For many of our boats it’s a “Swell Time”… Hopefully the batteries are charged! “Sindbad” is launching Wednesday in preparation for “Opening Day” the annual Seattle Yacht Club celebration of our hobby. The theme this year: “Boating Through the Decades”.

After being cooped up all winter with us kids, my Mom would snap, lose it in the spring and just yell:

” That’s it. Get the hell out. Now. Now! NOW! ”

So my vote for getting the boats out in Springtime….

    “Get the hell out.”

On the rocks? (Still have ice floes in the Great Lakes.) Though “on the rocks” has other connotations doesn’t it?
