Katie Lyons – One Of The New Faces Of The Antique Boat Center And Quite Possibly The Entire Classic Boat Culture.

Katie Lyons – Antique Boat Center

Here at Woody Boater we are thrilled to pass this official announcement from the Antique Boat Center regarding Katie Lyons along to our fellow Woody Boaters. This is a fantastic move in a fantastic direction not only for The Antique Boat Center, but for the entire classic boat culture. We are starting to see more and more young bright faces at shows, and now at one of the worlds leading Antique & Classic Boat Companies. This says a lot about where we are headed as a culture, new fun style fiberglass and wood boats, and younger folks entering the culture. This year at Lake Dora we saw more young faces in classic boats out on the water than in years past, we hope to see more of that at every event. If you are down in Florida stop by and say hi to Katie, or better yet, if you are thinking of buying or selling your boat. Katie knows the future customers for sure.

Welcome Katie and congratulations. If you need help with anything please call. I have no experience in anything but for you I learn. But I’d just have to ask my wife first. Something about not being allowed to hire or work for highly attractive women.

Welcome Katie to the World of Woody Boating! I wish you much success!

Rick, I can see that you must never sail near Anthemusa. You wouldn’t stand a chance of avoiding the charms of the Sirens!

In my view this is ABC’s smartest move….I’m no expert in sales but I know enough to know most men will not buy a boatwith out the wife’s approval and what better way than to have a woman help make the sale.

I disagree on this. I have been in sales for over 35 years, In real estate I have seen plenty of good looking sales woman try that ,only to have the wife pull the husband /boyfriend back because of good looks.

Since the day has started off slowly perhaps another short story is okay..

ABC’s move into Florida reminds me of the time back in 1981 when a small group wanted to start and ACBS chapter in Florida. Skipping the details of a valid and formal presentation the national leaders, then headquartered in upstate New York rejected the tender saying there were no antiques or classics down there in the Florida swamps. The following year three of us from Sunnyland got down on bended knee at the annual meeting at Lake Tahoe, again, tendering, charter, names and money and begged for the charter which was reluctantly given with the admonition that no chapter could successfully last down there in that swampland….and most now know the rest of the story.

Thank you to everyone for the very warm welcome! I am thrilled to be onboard with ABC. For those who I crossed paths with in Mount Dora, thank you for welcoming me into the your world of celebrating Antique and Classic Boats. If we’ve not had the pleasure of meeting just yet, I’ll be sure to encourage the ABC bosses to host another party to ensure we meet! Or you can always stop in at ABC @ Rejuvenation Woodworks to say hello.

Thank you all again & see you on the water!

What made this Sunnyland/Tavares/Dora event for me was the event held at Antique Boat Center’s newest location….that unbelievable shop at Rejuvenation Boat Works.
