Last Gasp Week – Monday! Are Your Ready?

Last year we cut it close, and that was late October out with Wayne and Bob have I got a calendar for you Kays. . Thanks to Sandy we are going to need to gasp later now. ICEBERG!

Every year we call last gasp and get skewered for punching out to early. This year, my last gasp was going to up on Lake Hopatcong, but things are not quite back to normal. Last year’s last gasp was at 105mph in an insane Donzi with fellow Woody Boater Seth Katz. You can see that story here.

Holy Crap, that was fun and the memory kept me going for the winter.

I think right now those twin 750 hp super charged motors are being used as a generator to power Lake Hopatcong! HA..ugh.. AND, it’s supposed to be 70 here in VA on Sunday. I smell a last gasp run in the Whaler if we are lucky. So I am calling it. LAST GASP WEEK! Starting Monday we will publish any of your last gasp shots and make fun of them. That bitch Sandy took the gasp out of gasp for many of us. But we are at that time. Don’t want to end the summer with a whimper? Squeeze out one more frozen knuckle run for the photo op! Then the good folks at Hagerty Marine Insurance, the official sponsor of last gasp week, will decide what fun reward we will hand out..

Sorry no last gasp for me too much stuff floating out there tight now. Never good to run over a refrigerator or even detached garage. Also I think the other motorists would lynch me if I pulled up to a pump with a boat!

To rub salt (or lemon juice) into the wound tomorrow NYC & LI start even/odd gas days! I think this is the start of the end days, make peace with the god of your choice. Who is the god of varnish again? Is Matt his/her Prophet?

Give me 30 seconds and a screw driver and I would have a set of even and odd plates and would be buying gas on whatever day I needed it.

If the idiots in government would let the stations raise their prices, they would quickly and efficiently find a price where hording and frequent sell outs would end and the incentive to get more gas to the city would be huge. You know the age old law of supply and demand. Oh that’s right, no one in NY believes in that silliness.

Around here, if you didn’t gasp at the cold morning temps you would be gasping at the cracks in your engine block and manifolds.

I guess the plastic kayak thing could work to extend the season but it requires too much human power and the water is still damn cold.

I’ll start pulling boats out this weekend in Georgia but only because I really like to get them buttoned down before it gets REALLY cold.
BTW you probably know that a Goldenrod dehumidifier puts out enough heat at only 40 watts to prevent sleepless nights brought on by a sudden cold spell. Won’t do enough for all winter but its cheap insurance if you are pushing the envelope weather-wise.
