Live-ish Sunday From The Spring Thunder Regatta At Lake Dora, Florida

Fellow Woody Boaters WoodyGal and ARRRGH! sent us these images this morning from Lake Dora, Florida. An early breakfast with a few of their boating friends (including Bogie with his classic Captains Cap) and then off to Lake Dora to enjoy the Classic Raceboat Association – Spring Thunder Regatta. Despite a serious accident during the Speed Skiff demonstration race yesterday (click here to learn more about Saturday’s incident) the participants were preparing to continue with the event today.

Here’s Chief boat launcher Riley doing what he does best at the boat ramp.

The weather is perfect and the racers were preparing their machines for a full day of classic boat racing demonstrations.

The guys preparing the Orange Crate for the big race…

Update from WoodyGal: Lake Dora 2:30 PM – “Unfortunately there was just another accident involving two vintage hydroplanes. Two people taken to hospital. Didn’t look good. Races cancelled…”

We will continue to report on the accident as information become available.

Sounds like some “bad mojo” going on there with the races this year. I have to agree with the cancellation. Hopefully everybody is OK.
