One Of Sandys Suprising Side Effects!

LET ME IN!

Yes, the world outside is windy as hell, the rain is going sideways and the water levels are higher than I have ever seen them before. But so far we are safe, and still warm. The power .. fingers and toes crossed, has kept up the furnace and internet. So as I sit here and watch the world float by at 50 mph or so. I can look on eBay for boats and stuff. Oh and work. But one thing has happened we did not plan for. The dogs will not go outside to pee and poo. I don’t blame them actually, I have no desire to walk them either. but the little troopers that they are, they do there business on the welcome mat. So much for welcoming the guests to our humble home this week! Stay safe, it aint pretty out there.

I think this one is really going to hurt. Keep an eye out for downed White Oaks, I need some pieces for ribs, stems and knees.

Time to be thankful for many things, including:

    1) You’re not in Haiti.
    2) You decided against a pair of English Mastiffs.

Though a pair of dogs big enough to call Constellation and Commander would be really cool.

This is a very good week to stay off the Great Lakes! Some of the salt water guys might not think 20 foot waves are all that bad in a large commercial boat, but they are closer together on the lakes which have taken many victims over the years.

makes me glad all we have had is a bit of snow and apparently some freezing rain on the way. Not so bad at all.

So far we have power and the wind is around 25mph and the temp is in the 50’s. The rain hitting the N windows sounds like sleet! But all is well. Lola cat is using her cozy indoor box and sleeping on the bed.

bad news, the HMS Bounty (aka, the Black Pearl) has been abandoned off the coast of NC. Sunk? Two crew members missing, 14 rescused.

I’m curious what conditions convinced Bounty’s skipper it was OK to venture offshore with 20-ft waves. The last AIS-equipped vessel I observed in the Norfolk area was a cruise ship scampering south at 18 knots.
