Thanks Classic boats

About 5 or was it 6 years ago, I sat down in front of my laptop and thought , what the hell, I will just try this. I will publish my daily journey into the passion of classic boating. Just put it out there, what could possibly happen? I thought, hey maybe I will learn something? Well…. That was an understatement of the century…… Chris Craft and Gar Wood! Every time I think I have it all understood, I am reminded of how little I know. The wonder of this passion is that one can never know it all. It’s endless. What is amazing though, is that though this amazing community I never feel alone out there. We all know that owning a Woody Boat is not a one man deal. It really takes a village to live the dream. And that has been the most wonderful surprise of this adventure. Getting to know all of you. I am beyond thankful for all your fun insights, encouragement and humor. Without Texx, Texx, and Texx, Alex, Paul, Chad, Matt B, Troy, Rick, Karen, Woody Gal, Greg, Phil from New Zealand, Kent O. Smith Jr, Marty, Bob “have I got a calendar for you” Kays, Steve, Jim, Jim, and Jim, Matt, Graeme, Al, Old salt, Capt Grumpy, JKarlson, Brian Robinson, Don Ayers, Jim Mersman, Rich, Wayne, Bill, Tom, Jrothert, Steve, Don, Shawn, Carla, Chris Smith, Seth, Herb, Lou, Pete B, Rabbit, Robb, Al, Rev Woody, Jimh, John,  Dennis, Waldo, Tommy, Dave, Dennis, Bill, Natasha, Kenny, Doug, Tom, Mr Biggest ball winner David Konick, Robb, Clif, Becky, Cohberg Kid, Scott, Alan and his Rivas, Gregg, River rat, The Wise Family, Dave, Bill Anderson, Hank, John, John and John, Herb P, Chris, Bjorn, Andreas, Mike, Mike and Mike, Kentucky Wonder, Brian T, Don, Wes, Steve, Terry, Martin, Roy, Kim, Jimmy, Red Dog, Pat, Hamster, Dan, Dale, Mark, Dane, Arron, Randy, Randy and…oh god I know I am missing some folks. The list goes on and on, aprox 30,000 a year… For the record I am horrible with names. It’s honestly a little overwhelming, but truly heartwarming. To all our Sponsors who have been loyal and supportive beyond my wildest dreams. A HUGE THANK YOU for making this happen. And most importantly…. The Boatress whom with out  her support, we would all be lost… literally..

And we thank you, Matt, for connecting this community. And of course your Boatress and mine. Who else would let me work on three woodies at the same time ? Now that she has taken up watercolours she even painted the Riviera. So grateful…

Thank YOU for creating a place where we can all gather and feel the love of community!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

PS: What does it mean when you wake up in the morning and the only dream you can remember is having to solve a math problem 16 – __ = 3, for no known reason.
Yes that is real, I could never make it up.

    Dear Matt,

What mad this possible, other than your passion, is your humility. the ability to laugh when others might cry. To self- deprecate instead of tearing others down. To be funny as Hell even when you are trying to be serious.

I remember all to well how this started for you and I can safely say that 99% of other people would have quit the hobby and never returned. Yet you rose above that and gave back in ways that we can’t comprehend at this point in time.

You found Texx is a similar way and situation. He “found himself” in your venture and that was a great thing. Look at the experiences you both have now had that almost all others will never see.

Stay strong and healthy my friends. We need your life appointment for many years to come.

    Best

Like most of these guys, I to fire up the old computer each morning and the first thing I check out is, “What surprise does Matt and Texx have in store for me today”.
And you never fail to deliver, I do not know what time in the morning up get up to load the days storyline, but it always amazes me each morning.
I have a hard enough time coming up with something to write in my Classic Corner Column in Scuttlebutt, and THAT”S every OTHER MONTH!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Suzy and all the Woody Boater Family out there.
As each year goes by, I get to meet, in person, more and more of the regulars who post on the site, and that makes it just more up front and personal. And it is all because of your hard work and dedication to our “LIFE STYLE.”

Happy Thanksgiving to Matt, Texx, and the good people and friends I’ve met through this blog.

The WoodyBoater experience has added so much to the hobby for my family and me — extending our otherwise short boating season to a year-round one.

The family ran a Turkey Trot this morning. Dinner’s now in the oven. Guests will be here soon. Warm apple pie for desert. Can hardly wait!

Thank you. I am up every day at a early start and this is one of the things that I look forward too. To day I slept in to 8:50 ( first time in years) and just got to sit down a check in, thanks Matt ,Texx the crew…… I have put a lot of people my age and younger on to this site. I think it has done a lot for the feature of the hobby they have kids, school, careers , ect and they check it out almost every day. One has even bought a project boat and works on it with the kids. Thanks again for all your hard work.

It is a good thing to have at least one day a year where being thankful is a major focus (hopefully). In our wood boat hobby, being thankful for the efforts of you and texx should be up there at the top of the list, along with those others who volunteer amazing amounts of time to promote our collective interests. Thank you!

A HUGE Thank You to the entire Woodyboatdr crew, even those Canadians who celebrated way too early yet again this year.

I like the gravy boat in the header, but can you turn the motor around? It would be cool if it could keep my gravy well stirred with no skin on top.
