The Last, Last Gasp? From Minnesota!!

screen-shot-2016-11-14-at-8-08-21-pm Thanks to fellow Woody Boater Bob Rosenquist for sending what could be the last, last gasp story of the season. From Minnesota of all places! Take it away Bob.

It was an incredible day, November 5, 2016.  72 degrees, calm wind on a Big Marine Lake in Minnesota.  We don’t have many days like that in a state that has no mountains or oceans between us and the artic to moderate the polar vortex.
This is not weather bragging, but a clumsy effort to describe a glorious last gasp in my Mom and Dads unrestored Cruiser Inc. 16 foot lapstrake.
Mom and Dad purchased their boat new in 1963 or 1964.  The seats, vinyl and the varnish are original.  It has been stored for many years in their barn.

A couple of years ago Dad and I purchased a newer used engine that had electric start.  Dad had always wanted to get an electric start but just never quite got around to it.

I apologize for mixing pictures from last year but it shows three generations in the boat.  Mom, me and my daughter.  That is one of the great attributes of Woody Boater.  The sharing and promoting of boating and family.

Always the best to see a classic boat that was bought new, kept original and stayed in the same family for generations. You boat is lucky to have you folks as caretakers.

    Great Story!

This has been an amazing fall. Just yesterday I was telling a neighbor that in years past I have gone XC skiing on the November full moon. This year Sandi and I went out for a Super Moon boat ride instead. We have never had a boat in the water this late in the year.

    Speaking of Minnesota,

Are there any Woodyboaters in the Minnesota area interested in a Buehler Turbocraft project? I was contacted by someone who acquired one with a larger purchase and is not interested in keeping it.

M-Fine, contact me as I’m finishing a Buehler Turbocraft Jet 35 now. I’m always interested in learning more history and helping others with their projects. I’m in NW Iowa, so pretty close!
