The Old Boats Home Is A Home Run

In the past 7 days since we opened the doors of the Old Boats Home, it’s become the number one clicked on link / banner on WoodyBoater…times 10. Yes! The Forum is still a great tool for folks, and could be the answer to all that facebook crap out there. Also in the last three days over 100 of you have signed up. Which is great, and even more so, actually using it.

Thats me the first day of classic boat ownership close to 20 years ago.

We are still working out little things, that one only learns by doing. But hey, gotta start, fail, and fix. Thats half the fun. Right?  WoodyBoater was created over 16 years ago for this type of thing. Open, free, and trusted. The three guiding emotions behind the brand.  Always Open, 24/7 with live-ish updates, Free to everyone is a welcoming way to invite everyone to play, and the most important, trusted. Trust has become one of the top issues with the information/opinion overload.

Dang! We are becoming a real thing! THE WORST BUSINESS PLAN EVER!

Powered By WoodyBoater. What does that statement mean? It means that Open, Free, and Trusted  are part of the DNA of The Old Boats Home. So will be a good nature, kindness, and yes, human error. SHIP HAPPENS. Anyway, enough about us, thankyou for making the Old Boats Home work. As always, YOU are the fuel that drives the boat, and it’s more fun when we all ride together.

Over there! >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Also as a side note…. PUN ALERT, you will notice a new banner section on the right SIDE of the story here on Woody Boater, these are the folks that support us all in this, as well as your support. So support them, use them, and know we are all family here. Even the crazy Uncle writing this crap!

As one of the hundred who signed up for the new forum, I would like to thank you for this new feature which should of great help to our group but conversely in the prophetic words of Groucho Marx “I should never belong to an organization that would have me as a member”.

It’s taken me some time to compose this message, however, as my eyes are still burning from that shot of you in overalls bent over the boat. I know the shot was from twenty years ago, but didn’t overalls go out of style back in the late 70’s [yes – I had a pair back then, along with a cowboy hat and boots].

I really like both sights! I hope the day never comes where this site is phased out for the other. Both have their place in the woody boat world. Thank you Matt, as well as all you folks that come here each day. A visit almost always makes my day a little bit richer.

Once again my day starts with WB and the daily thought, “how does he do all this stuff?”Sure there is interest in the wooden boats but I can’t help and read with awe. You are the kind of friend that I would like to have live down the street from me to give me the incentive to get up and get going every day. I often read your daily report and find myself shaking my head over the latest rambling. If you run out of subjects do you think you could give us some insight in how the web site metrics work and what you find out about your audience?

I had written the following to post on the old farts site, but don’t see a POST comment box……help.

Old fart observations, 1) I love the fact that when I click on a users handle/dot I can actually see the users real name. 2) Lots of new things to learn here, but one BASIC thing is not clear,,,,,to me, where does one start typing a new post and then post it. It took me awhile to even get this far. 3) How does one change their dot to a picture? 4) It says that I need a title, where, how. do I buy one.
I’m sure there is more, no, I know there is more ship that befuddles me.

I had never seen or heard of the origin of “Reedville Exit”. That is really quite funny. Good thing Art has a sense of humor! Thanks for bringing me up to speed!

How in the hell did we digress back to the infamous Reedville incident ……….just to pour more salt into my wounded pride.
