The Riva Diet – Oh It’s A Thing!
It’s that time of year when we all focus on the guts we have built up over the cold winter. Well, Fellow Woody Boater Mark Setterholm has decided that he needs to drop some Lbs. Oh, wait, not because he wants to be healthy.. See Mark got himself a Bucket List Riva, and well, being image conscious, observed that , well, only skinny attractive people drive Rivas. So guess what, he wasn’t gonna be the Chub Chub in a Riva. So maybe just maybe there is something in that?
It’s no different than wanting to slim down for a High school reunion, or summer vacation. So this of course invites the next question.
What is the perfect weight for your boat? Do large Sportsman allow you to carry around a little extra blubber? What about a small Racer? Should I loose the Freshman 30 I have been carrying around for 40 years? That little sucker is small, and that 40 lbs is alotta drag. How about A Century? Fat floats! Hey just saying! My gut would make a great life jacket? Cobras? Ya kinda need to look slick in one of those? Maybe some huge side burns on one of them.
So we ask. Do you match your boat? Hey, if not, you know have an excuse to go buy the boat that was built with you in mind!
I think I might have the body type for a pontoon. Talk about motivation to lose weight!
m-fine…maybe this will help.
The “Riva Diet”. I love it. There was no birthday cake for me to celebrate Carlo Riva’s 95th birthday last week. As of this morning I am down 21 lbs from January 3rd, 2017, the date I started this weight loss challenge. See you all in Tavares!
Had an Ariston. Didn’t fit my style. Way easier to get a Sportsman (the fat guys boat) than loose weight. Besides look at the size cooler it will haul.
busted, crap, i better sell the streblows
Well if I lost 5 or 70 lbs maybe the B would be good enough and I wouldn’t need to repower? The money I save would buy a lot of canolis. Wait I’m starting to see a problem here. I’ll just get a bigger engine and move the seat back a little.
Once again genius Matt!
Nice way to open up a new source of income for Woody Boater. Look out Jenny Craig here comes Matt Smith. Start the day by drinking varnish out of a coffee cup and later in the day enjoy your high protein diet of chicken on a stick with a side of bacon! Next thing Matt will do is find a way of putting Stinky in the kitchen in order to limit our time in that room and if that doesn’t work he will place Wecatchem in a place to catch us over loading with carbs.
That’s a really nice picture of Mark in the cowboy hat.
More like this… 🙂
According to my wife this is why I am drawn to the barrel backs – we’re both round with no sharp edges!
Loving the picture of the Boatress!
If I got a boat to match my shape I’d need a tug boat.
Matt: T-shirt idea…
“Honey, does this boat make me look fat?”
You can figure out the graphic.
I’d buy it!
Caution, object in this shirt is smaller than it appears… 😉
As long as that quote is on a shirt and not on your pants.
The solution is to have a very small boat, like this. Then you will never hear the Fat Lady sing, so the fun never ends…
I am curious about some of the points in this story. Does Mark own the Lambo Riva, or a Jr.? Is he doing the Bruce / Caitlyn Jenner thing so he can wear a cowboy hat like that, or is he just loosing weight? So many questions. Inquiring minds want to know.
Dang, not sure what this means for us Cruiser guys. I always thought it was just so we could party with all our friends at once.
A cruiser means that you add old and slow to overweight. A Formula means you might have been cool in the 1980’s, or at least you USED TO try. A Continental with fins means you are overweight and need room for a plus sized cooler, but you have SOME sense of style and like to differentiate yourself from the common utility crowd.
My ma-toe is two girls for every guy on board !
Matt, I think the waterline on WECATCHEM is crooked that is all.
Congrats on the Riva and the weight loss Mark! Hope to see you all in Tavares. Looks like I need to start my diet…..
I can still sit behind the wheel of my 17′ Century Resorter so I’m ok for now. I do however,Dick never go out without a passenger in the port seat. That waterline is a dead giveaway!
I sold my Resorter 16 as i had ‘outgrown’ it.
I’m good in the Arabian, unfortunately.
