The Woody Boater Classified Page. Is It Worth It?

Inneda is always here for you.
We have now had the classified page up for enough time to decide if its worth it. Yes, it takes nothing really to run, its not all that easy to use, and WARNING, some folks are getting SCAM offers on stuff. Send us your Paypal info and so on. It’s certainly worth the Free price of admission and according to our stats, one of the top clickable banners. So traffic is going there. A lot of traffic. But has anyone actually sold anything on it? And anyone found anything on it? The plan was to charge for an ad, but I am struggling with that if its not working. The idea is that if you sell something, send in a small donation. Its an honor system of sorts. So today, we ask. Keep it, or Sink it?
I check it for updates every few days as I find the items listed interesting. If I had something to sell, I would probably use it. Don’t know if that helps much.
I do like the Classified and try to cruise through it at least once a month. That being said I feel the biggest problem right now is that a lot of the listings are stale. I listed a boat there that has sold, unfortunately not from a contact on WB Classified, but have not been able to remove the ad. Once I e-mailed about editing and you told me how to accomplish that, but the edit and remove options do not exist on our end. I think a little refinement may improve things.
As far as scammers go, they are everywhere. “I ready to buy you item. Work late need to rest later. Paypal information send me. Will have agent pick up item send you money to give him”
I loaded a pile of ads. Sold a propeller and gave away a box of electrical parts. I think it’s a good service to the boating community. If it’s not a problem leave it.
Gotta tell you, I’ve looked over the site 4 times and can’t find the classifieds section. Didn’t know you had one. I’m here every day, too.

HAHAHAH! Its been there for a year!
Google Chrome mobile doesn’t have it. The Store doesn’t show up either.
I say leave it up. It is one of the things that make the Woody Boater site unique. CQ
Matt and Texx,
As the old saying goes…
“If it’s not broke don’t fix it!”
My vote is to keep it.
keep it! i snicker each time i go there and see that header photo of those fellows in pumkin. i still think m fine lost a few years from that look of fright on his face!
plus i look for boat parts.
Is that what happened to me? I think it may have cost more than a few years though.
When that picture was taken, I think I was 40. Just a couple years later, I am about to turn 84.
Haven’t sold or bought anything on it yet but it’s nice to know it’s there and to look at, keep it.
Please leave it up! I’m just sorting through boat parts to sell. We did not sell that Thompson for my friend George, and I don’t know how to take the ad down. Too bad, it’s a nice user boat, George keeps it in top condition.
Bet today is top hit day!!!!!
Definetly keep it ‘alive’ – it’s another resource for everyone and I believe that it will become more popular with time… like you said, it’s only been a year. Perhaps a better/largher ‘header’ on the section would make it POP OUT more (?).
I view it and use it. Bought something I needed at a very fair price. Honor system donation is a good thing to do. Keep it.
Iam sure in time as it becomes more known it will get more use
So let it live
not hurting anything… keep it.
It’s a good resource, I say keep it!

Looking at WB on my phone I can’t see a link to the classifieds anywhere? Is it just me.
Doesn’t show up on iPhone mobile view either… I would love to see it and use it, but can’t find it??
As for scammers – like others have said, “they’re everywhere”!! I got an over for double my asking price if I was willing to take a cashier’s check and ship my used infant car seat to Nigeria?!? Was really tempting…
Chris, Brian, Matt emailed me saying we’re not nuts. Some of the stuff doesn’t show up for us phonies. Says he’ll work on it over the holidays.
I just tried to place an Ineeda part add and it got hung up on the price I entered. What’s a “valid” price?
Please keep it.
Also a daily reader but somehow hadn’t noticed the classifieds til today-pls keep as its a cool feature.
I thought it would be a great site for those of us that do not have a business to advertise. I have found that some people with businesses seem to abuse this sight by cramming all of there product on here. If I want to see there inventory I would go to there website. If this was done there would be much less clutter of stuff I have already seen way to many times. I have sold one stern pole and donated 10% of the sale to WB. I don’t go there often because of this.
I like it…gives some idea of what stuff is worth or whether or not anyone is out there that wants it at all. The limit on the price is a good idea worth keeping also.

I recently posted an ad and found the app to be putsy to use. Also, there’s no way for me to revise or remove the ad on my own. I’d suggest making it more functional and then charging.
Keep it afloat!! I have not used it, but would like to have the option in the future.
