Things Are Already Changing In Woody Boaterville.
|This is a photo of the new site in the process of being worked on.|
I know I should be talking about boat shows and bung holes.. But as you know, we here talk about what happening at the moment. And right now, an epic event is taking place and a ton of time. As we have talked about for about a year now is taking place. Change is never easy, especially when you are comfortable in your ways. But with technology, it’s death to stay in one place. When I started Woody boater I started on Blogspot because I did not know what I was doing…still don’t… but as things kept growing, we needed to add things that blogspot just could not do.. So we have needed to move over to an entirely new platform. Word Press. I have painstakingly tried to design the change so it feels the same but adds better things.. This will be the one big change, others will evolve over time. And be seamless. The big changes are a 4th line of more permanent stories. That feature boats folks and places that we all like to see stay up there longer. Also each story on the big area, will be a single image that will help have more stories on the home page. That’s really it.. The reason for the domain change for some of you is because the base on blogspot is its own hosting.. Now. if you go to the old adress it should move you over.. but its best to just use www.woodyboater.com, thanks again for being patent.. I am not.. You will start see ing some odd things on this blog spot page for the next few days as we transfer things over.. The new site should be live in a day.. Wooohoooo! Complaints! Ha.. WARNING! I have Pat Curtin running the complaint department!
"Pat Curtin running the complaint department". Does this mean you like your readers or not woodyboater man?
I hope you still allow valid questions to be signed anonymous.
Yes we will always allow any comments
Woody Boater Matt, this is great. I like the new layout of things. Great job. So far everything seems to work. We’ll see if Comments works…
Works like it’s supposed to.
Damn you Al Benton!!! I had hoped to be the 1st to post a comment on the actual new site!!!!LOL
Ok now that that is out of my system. Great site Matt, love it.
Sorry about that, Rick. This is cool!! I, the Replier can Reply to the Reply-ee of my earlier Reply to the…
Wow, I didn’t realize I would be listed as a sub-comment by hitting that reply button. Cool, what do all these other buttons do?
Looks great to me Matt! Great that woodyboater is taking advantage of tech as it evolves. Soon you’ll be another facebook, valued in the trillions of $$, snarfing up Rivas & dingles at auctions worldwide, simulcasting live-ish from the back of Texx’s hog on roadtrips…..wow, the mind boggles! Ain’t the intarweb wunderful?
Looking good for the most part, Captain Big Dog!
Slight glitch: Look at December 31st story. Some of the pictures are skrunched-up.
Followers: I finally figured out the follower thingy on the old site and find it gone – replaced by”Recent Visitors”?
OMG! Instant posting?
Next you need to add 3D effects with special Woody glasses to see the effect. Actually the technology is here already. Watch the Rivas come right out of the screen! Toilet seats that you can almost touch! I sense a revolution coming!!
I like the link to Boat Buzz and the Trading Dock.
I had to try this out, like a kid with a new toy (or an old man with a new Harley…) HA
The coolest thing is to hit refresh and watch the site evolve.. Its been like building an airplane in flight.. Full of passengers..
Didn’t want to be left out of the new commenting! I don’t have anything to say other than it looks great! Thanks Matt and all involved for the rework!
Whoa there big fella …. “Live Traffic Feed”?
Is nothing sacred? How can one ‘virtual surf’ if the SO/boss
can just check the front page & see what I did 3 minutes ago?
Technology run amuck!
(used to be a barrelback at Tahoe named Runamuck….)
This is probably a bad joke but does this name work?
Seriously, Woodyboater, I like the great new website.
Keep up the great work and thanks….
Of course it does! It is playful and reprersentative of the history of boating and the bulk of classic boaters today. The name tells you right away that we are fun loving lovers of classic boating without being too full of ourselves . . . even when some of us own classic plastic!
