Six Years Of Woody Boater? How Time Flies!
January 2011, yes 3 years ago, we looked at the interneter world, and decided we needed to change some things regarding Woody Boater. We had been doing it old school for 3 years before. Dang.. Over 6 years of Woody Boater? The change caused a ton of complaints about to much stuff on the page, some cool stuff that is still there, and some we killed with in a week… but a shift from just being a blog to being a… the… daily portal to the lifestyle of classic boats. So on any given day, you can show up and take part in a daily party so to speak, and see whats going on, and whats coming up. With the ACBS calendar on the left, and the live feed from the Chris Craft Antique Boat Clubs Boat Buzz, to a place where you can find the good folks that support the hobby and your daily needs. Not to mention big headers… The changes paid off, we have more than doubled the traffic to the site since that change…The best part though of the changes has been the comments. Fun stuff for sure. With yesterdays voting on t shirt designs it was fun to see how diverse in our tastes we are. And honestly no real winner, so we will have to make a tough choice again.
For those of you interested, here is the very first story ever on Woody Boater. October 2007 I left the spelling mistakes by the way.. Thats my buddy Dan driving ‘Just Swell” the boat that started it all.
Ahoy Classic and vintage boat lovers.
Welcome to Woody Blog. Participate in classic wood boat conversation, share your opinion on all things relating to classic and antique boats. We are working on the web site as we blog. Much of the site will contain information gathered here. Such as . Great Woody boats we have owned. Great locations to enjoy woody boats … Repair tips. Places to get parts and repairs when its all to much. We are also working with Wineo sign company. A unique company that uses old school lettering in a high tech way. In other words the best of both worlds. Kaptian Krunch.. Yes… has over 40 years experience in the hand letting world and has developed a way to take that letting and send it to you in gold leaf.. You apply it and Varnish it. Its great. As to me. I own 6 woody’s and am always looking and selling to keep the fun alive. Its more learning and understanding than using. This is quickly becomeing a lost way of life. All the orig workers and builders are retired and have moved on. There is a handful of folks still around and eager to share there wisdom. That is why we are here. To give a voice to such folks. Thanks for participating, your words and thoughts are omportent… Thanks.. Woody Boater
its been a fun ride and we look forward to many more years.
Keep up the good work. How long till Tavares? It’s currently no degrees here in Mchenry.
As always, keep it up and stay true to what is Woodyboater.
When I saw the Little Miss Maple Leaf header yesterday, I was thinking about John Eidt’s boat. I was very pleased to see his comment yesterday evening. I think that is the first comment ever made from Harsens Island. A true milestone for WoodyBoater!
I have only shared one of these six wonderful years with your, however you have become a big part of my daily life.
Thanks for all the work you do to bring us together!
AnI I thought the Chris Craft Club was out front around the turn of the century with the old listbot.com and “memberclicks” but you guys have litterally turned the hobby upside down with Woody Boater…Congratulations on what you have done and thanks for what you are doing !
Yes, thanks for your commitment to providing our morning cup of WoodyBoater caffeine—such an excellent way to start each day or find out the latest in the hobby. Who were the first regulars?
Happy Anniversary, Matt and Texx. You make my morning, like today when it’s -12 degrees at our little cabin in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin and our woody is 25 steps down in the boathouse, in the middle of a long Winter sleep.
I just realized that I misread the temperature. It’s actually -22 (actual air temp, not windchill) in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin.
Like I always say, ole Matt is the Jon Wilson of cyber woodyboating!
Thanks for all the years.
John in Va.
Matt and Tex.

A big congrats to Matt and Texx, Seven years of being there every morning, with out fail, with something new and fresh each day. I have a hard enough time coming up with something to write once every 2 months in my Classic Corner column in Great Lakes Scuttlebutt Magazine.

Hard to believe I have been clicking in each morning since I learned about WoodyBoater back in 2009!!!

You all have done a fantastic job for our hobby and we all thank you for the 7 good years. I can’t wait to see what you bring us in the next 7.
Pete
Sorry for all the confusion regarding 6 or 7 years today. I had a brain fart and thought it was 2015 tomorrow? I am getting to old for this..
Ha – That made me do the “count on my fingers thing”… Thought I missed a year somewhere.
I thought that maybe is was just a new spam filter. Find and correct the hidden arithmetic error to leave a comment.
Hi Matt. I’m just a life-long boat drooler, amateur, happy to be the 2nd owner of our neighbor’s CC Deluxe for the last 35+ years. I used to scrounge parts by telephone and FAX. Whoa baby, has the internet ever changed that! Been following Wood Boat/Woody Boater for 5?, 6yrs.? Thank you. Love it. And thru your site have met a few people and of course enjoyed the fantastic knowledge displayed by your incredibly talented audience. Happy New Year, and prosperous New Year.
ps. Thanks for Troy, too.
Bob B.
Did Troy do the header today? Why is there a blow up doll, and a giant cleat in the header?
Happy new year Matt & Texx. You went above and beyond to bring us woody boaters together, from all over the globe.
it has been a fun ride and great stories.. Lets go another generation to see who keeps these wood boats alive.
Woo Hoo! We’ve been enjoying you since 2009. Great site, you never know what you’re going to learn.
We’re just starting to explore all social media for our business and the one thing I know is that thanks to you guys I am always thinking about how I can make it be more interesting, informative and hopefully something that will make people want to keep coming back to see what we’ve been up to…you’ve also become a mentor!
Of course, your subject matter is much more fun!
So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for all things Woodyboater. You guys are amazing!
No mention, or pics, of Miss Lisa in that 1st story? Positively prehistoric.
Another great year of Woody Boater has passed, tomorrow is a new year! Thanks to Matt, Texx and all of your readers. You are all starting to feel like family!
Thanks Matt & Texx for keeping the juices flowing. My Woody Boater fix gives me the motivation every morning to keep working on the restoration.
Happy 2014
