Tuesday Forecast – Classic Cruising All Day With Scattered Periods Of Happiness For Everyone
Well, after months of anticipation, the classic boating season is finally here (at least in Florida) and today we are joining up with some fellow Woody Boaters for a day of cruising on the Southbound St. John’s River Cruise in Central Florida. And the forecast for today is Sunny 81 degrees (Feels like 84 degrees – 28.8 C for our friends in Canada) with a few thunderstorms.
We arrived in Palatka, Florida on Monday, which is the stopping point on the river cruise route on both Monday and Tuesday night. The popular St. John’s River Cruises (north before the show and south after the show) are organized in conjunction with Sunnyland ACBS Chapter Wooden Boat Festival on Lake Dora, in Tavares, Florida.
The nice folks from the Sunnyland Chapter ACBS have been organizing these cruise events for a number of years now, and they have it figured out… Keeping in mind that organizing boaters can be like herding cats some days! The South Cruise runs from From Sunday, March 17th to Thursday, March 21st and covers some fantastic waterways throughout central Florida.

The boats began to arrive to the docks of the Palatka Quality Inn mid afternoon on Monday, so we snapped a few shots of the classic boaters as they pulled in to the docks to give you an idea of the wide range of boats that are participating in this years event.
One of the greatest things about this event is the wonderful cross section of classic boaters who attend the event from all over the country and the impressive range of classic boats that participate every year. This is also a great opportunity to visit with old friends and make some new friends along the way. Here’s the stats – based on the most recent sign in sheet:

Stay tuned for a full report from the St. Johns River Cruise on Wednesday here on Woody Boater. Then on Wednesday afternoon, we travel south to Tavares, Florida to set up for the Sunnyland Wooden Boat Festival at Wooten Park, on the shores of beautiful Lake Dora.

Have fun. Woke up to 6 inches of snow on the driveway, wet and heavy. Lovin the lapstrakes. Adele looks sweet.
We’ll most definately be thinking of you all day…. thanks for that!
Great report & pics! Glad to see Norman & Jr are on the cruise, he always has good stories & often ends up towing someone! Have fun yall!
Nice pics! Everyone needs to smile though, it is 15 degrees here in Milwaukee! Enjoy!!!!!!
15 degrees!!
NOW we’re smiling
What WoodyGal said, Norms been on this trip every year, I think, and he’s on his 3rd motor in “Jr”. He’s got a small covered garage pool that he keeps his boat in swelled up at home in Memphis. He’s got some great stories to tell with his 80+ years of experience.
Well, at least someone is having fun. Here on the shores of Lake Michigan (Holland), it is 22 degrees F, with 22 mph winds gusting to 33 for a wind chill factor of 6 degrees F. We also have a lake effect snow advisory all day. I’m glad spring starts tomorrow. I hope someone remembers to flip the switch!
Please keep the reports and pictures coming!
Randy had his surgery yesterday and you are making my day a little brighter. Pleased to report Randy’s surgery went well and we are so thankful.
Dad took this trip both ways numerous times, it’s on our someday lust!
Thanks Ranger – We are cruising across Crescent Lake right now an board “Lucky 7” and the waters flat, the sun is shining and the beers cold!
Get well soon Randy, we miss you out here…

We have 4G and full bars in the middle of Crescent Lake – Life is good on Woodyboaterville today…
Love cold beer on classics boats!!!
I will be there Thursday but my boat want be ready, hope I can hitch a ride……I have gas money 🙂
no typos!? good job.
Off to shovel snow so I can get to the airport.
FL here we come!
Did Century ever make (wooden) snow shovels? and if so is yours preserved or restored… Just sayin’
If nobody saves the sedan from yesterday maybe we can have GW snow shovels. Just thinkin’ out loud.
Up at 4:00 am. Arrived airport at 5:15. Learned flight was cancelled.
Weather in Northern MI is not good. But it’s not THAT bad.
I smell a rat. Mayer! This time I’m serious. Stop calling in threats to the FAA. This ain’t funny!
Ronnie and I went for a boat ride through the canals and lakes today in Mount Dora. A little too hot for this Michigan boy. Had to put the Sun top up for the first time. But I’ll take it over wind chill factors any time…
UH Just got done cleaning a foot of wet heavy snow off my tarped boat. So sick of snow, any one in florida got a couch I can sleep on?
Yes, but you have to drive a BEATER to get here! It is a MURPHY bed actually, not a couch. And we’ll pick up all the boat gas.
The Captain and crew of “Lucky 7” would like to thank TEXX for joining us “Sans trailer”
We had a great day on the St. John’s River Cruise aboard “Lucky 7” Jim’s trusty U-22… It’s purred like a kitten all day.
Relaxation and sunshine all day today… “as good as it gets.”
Great day on the river (Dunns Creek) that looked like a problem with all the red on the weather radar before the trip but it blew thru early AM. Had some fun spottin’ gators.
Might have another cruiser deal for Cap’n Grumpy.
