We’re All Growing Up With Lily!

Lily at age 7, ready to drive her boat!
The other day we did a fun little story on the 4th of July featuring Lily Durren on the bow of her perfect 18ft Sportsman. For the regular readers of Woody Boater it was amazing to see how she is growing up right in front of our eyes. For those of you not familiar with her and her namesake boat.

Lily at 1 month old

We’ve all been there Lily, Dad was talking about Reed and Prince Vs Philips heads again, wasnt he! 1 Month old
Dad, Chad restored a beautiful 18′ Sportsman days before she was born and she was named after Lily, in fact the lettering was voted on here on Woody Boater. Now here is another shocker, she is 7! Are we that old? It feels like yesterday that we started Woody Boater.

At 10 months Lily and Lily showed up again on Woody Boater
But dang, we are 8 years old now. For Eight years 365/24/7. Dang, we all grow up fast, but some of us don’t grow older as beautifully as Lily that’s for sure.

Lily at 1 year.

Lily at 2. This was at the Lake Geneva show where Lily took home some huge award.. Lily was happy about that.. Its a lifetime of work for her.

Age 3 getting ready to out boating
Ugh oh, at 4 something happened. But she came back at 5.

Age 5 on her transome

At 6

And now 7. Oddly the boat has not aged a bit.
Thanks to Chad for sharing Lily’s photos with us.Today can celebrate the wonderful future that we are passing on to our kids! And showing how time can move on but the classics can remind us all of our family history. Show us your family fun through the years.
Heart warming story today that put a smile on my face Chad & Matt. It’s great to watch Miss Lily grow up with LILY.
I first met Miss Lily at Lake Geneva in 2011. She was a natural around the boat, it was wonderful to see. – Texx
Great Story! One of the best I’ve ever read.
Here is a shot of Sam on AB in 2014.
Here she is helping Dad scrape the bilge of Yorktown in the boat barn. I think this was 2013.
Someday we will see Lily at her wedding in the boat. We will all say, were did the time go…
Here is my owner on July 5th 2014.
Here we are on July 4th 2015. Look at how much she shrank in a year!

and another…
…last one. Proud father! Time sure does fly…Dads feeling old.
Did you give her the keys as a graduation present?
This is all I could find at age 4.
Great story & even better the photo tributes of so many of you guys with your Daughters!! Nice testimony to the Power of Woody Boating!! It creates bonds between Fathers & Daughters (& Sons & Moms too)! Great job guys!!
What a great story! Absolutely love it! Thank you, to Lily’s parents, for sharing the photos.
Here’s my daughter, at age 9, helping me build our Glen-L Utility…
Just my observation… I find that girls possess a level of appreciation or sensitivity towards old boats that boys of the same age seem to lack. The boys are interested in going fast, pulling every switch on the dash or honking the horn. I suppose I fall into that category.
Marion E on Marion E. Age 8. Boat age, 60.
Same girl, more confident, in Lush Life, about 6 years later.
And just last year, driving The Majestic. Not solo, though. Daddy’s having trouble letting go.
Of the boat.
Great timeline story…thanks Chad & WoodyBoater!
Both Lily and LILY are sweet, beautiful, classic.
Here’s my salty matey Liz at the helm of DENBY:
Wow, Grant, I see you’re having trouble letting go too. That boat doesn’t even appear to be in the water.
For all we know, with your imaging skill, you might’ve even Photoshopped Liz into it.
Actually, I photoshopped Liz into that Victorian street scene; in the original image, she’s nonchalantly pressing DENBY through heavy chop @ 28 knots is if the ol’ Skiff were motionless.
That kid’s a natural!
If you ask me, this is so much better than those Daddy-Daughter dances, with all the awkward looking fathers dancing to that 90’s “Barbie Girl” song.
Girl Power!
Divas in Training…..Love it.
Our Lily, named after Chaf’s Lily, 2014
The best part about Lily (the boat) is the font on the transom. Period correct and simple. So nice that I copied it, with a slight curve, on our little Gar Wood, “Rabbit.”
kitch our youngest is use to being the only boy so ill put him up. age 6 building sams smile and now 22. I was able to let go he drives them all but its not with out a little stress.
Wish I could post pics…I’ve got some of our two girls learning to water ski at middle school age….In fact in one pic there are the two of them and three more all behind the boat…At those ages it was kinda like pulling five mosquitoes. They’ve gaine a couple of pods since then.
I’ll join the proud dad/wooden boat party
Loved the story of Two Lily’s today. Heres my Isabella in ‘Princippessa’ our 58 Resorter
Great way to track the chronology of boat and children. A lot more interesting than recording the child’s height on the door frame with a marker. Here’s my son Halden shoveling coal into Segwun’s boiler in Gravenhurst on Lake Muskoka. We love that steamboat.
That was 2004 above and now a couple of years ago with my grandson Alex test driving a vintage Century.
My number one helper. 😀
