Get Out There And Boat! Vote No On Woody Voter!

What I care about is pictured here. No politics, just a great wife, lots of great dogs, smart kids and a day out on the water in a wonderful watercraft.
I have noticed a jump in political comments these days as the election heats up. I also get all your wonderful spam emails about how Obama is a communist, and how Romney wears strange underpants. NOT KIDDING! I quickly place them in the super nuke spam junk box by the way, and you as the sender are immediately marked as a spammer. It’s not like I am not bombarded with this crap. I live in Washington DC, and honestly do not care about any of this dribble. WAKE UP AMERICA! It’s all marketing, I know the folks that do the marketing, the spin and the do damage control for BOTH parties, hell sometimes they are doing both ends at the same time. The nation is evenly divided these days. Why piss off half the room, and half of our fellow Woody Boaters. There is no room for it, in fact this is one of the few places I can get away from it. For gods sake, there is a more pressing issue at hand! IT’S OCTOBER! And were running out of good boating days to have fun. This is a long weekend coming up. Are you going to sit around and send out spam emails and fret over crap going on TV and in DC, or worry about if if your stuffing box is leaking. For the record, I can effect instant change on my stuffing box.
OK, I agree with you completely on the political crap, and this may not be a good weekend for me, as I think I will be winterizing Water Lily, but let’s move on to the improtant stuff. ARE YOU GOING TO BUY THAT CONNIE?
Amen!
Go boating with those you love! Have a great loooong weekend.
It looks like it has a bid on it already. As sad as it is, I did the math. 7500 for the boat, 5K to ship it, another 2K to get it running and working after tha haul, And it looks like it needs paint. 10K, engine work 5K, and thats just to get it all working and looking kinda OK, 10K more to varnish.. Now, I know there is a stuffing box and transome issue. They all have that. 20K mmm lets see thats around 60K all in a month. OUCH!
Here’s the answer. Get elected president, get the boat as the presidential yacht, have the Navy restore it, donate it to your Presidential Maritime Museum (instead of a library) with the condition that you can use it at will and immediately resign before any big decisions are needed(handing it off to someone who really wants to put up with all the garbage). Bazinga, you’ve got you boat and it’s restored in time for Tavares. Foolproof!
Be an American, vote, pick who you believe in , have an opinion, feel free to think , ignore the negative, do the right thing, even when it it is harder and unpopular, and float in a wood boat!!!!!!!
And keep woody boater clear of that s*%t
I agree about the politics. Its not like one guy make any of the decisions. And while we talking about poliyal rant psting, I absolutly cant stand all of it on Facebook!
WOW my keyboard is doing some wierd stuff.
Good stuff Matt, I notified all my friends who forward political stuff and also facebook to STOP…..life is too short. Thanks for keeping this place the Island in the Stream of joy and varnish fumes…….laughter and good humor……..Woodyboater keeps your head clear and positive in this world of negative, negative……..nothing more soothing than a ride across the lake to clear your head or watching or reading about someone doing it.
Well put.
My Dad forwards all of those political emails to his whole contact list.
I told him “Would you rather be ‘right’, or have friends?”
Taking the “WAHINE” to our San Diego Gathering this weekend. No politics, just crusin the waters of the bay with good friends and wooden boats. MAHALO!
We took “Phantom”, our South Coast 23, out last night and snuck in to the shallows to get a free concert at Humphreys. We saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers and then had a nice moonlight cruise of San Diego Bay on smooth water and warm weather. I hope Mr. Anderson from Wicked Wahine drops by San Diego Marine Exchange across from San Diego Yacht Club and says hi to Rob and I. I’d like to show him the big sister to his South Coast 18. I’ll need to clean the boat first though…I’m still trying to get all the dog hair off the boat from the Crosby,Stills concert last week that we went to with our two Labs!
Rich, I`ll be there!
Hi Matt, Its only a long weekend if you work for the government or are teacher. Fortunately I got laid off in 2009 so every day is Saturday !!! Scooter
I thought stuffing boxes were supposed to leak ?
A gallon per hour, right ?
By the way, are we going to have a Last Gasp this year? My kids want to get even crazier this year with their leaves and tubing shenanigans……
Larry the Lyman for President!
good call on the political crap. I was too young in the late ’60s’s to be aware but the polarization in the US seems to be almost of that magnitutde now. Sites like this are a great refuge from the bombardment, thanks for keeping it that way.
We are at the cabin this weekend, weather perfect. Will try to get a last gasp in ourselves, maybe I will get the engine on the little Peterborough running this year, after failing last year?
Petered out engine on the Peterborough for Pete’s sake.
The ACBS-BSLOL Fall colors cruise is this Sunday with a forecast high of 53F low of 37F. Northern MN just received 6-10 inches of fresh snow. No debate here! Heck yes, we are going woody boating!
Gheez, snow…..did they make wooden ice breakers……soon be time to put the mailboats away and put Moriah under cover. brrrrrrrr……fortunately the Northern tip of the Mitt (Michigan not to be confised) has had good moderate weather for Fall color boating….at least on Mullett Lake…..I don’t know about Hessel and Alex…rearranging the garage to pack them all away…..happy Fall Boating guys !!!!
We at Mississippi Valley Chapter in the St. Louis area have our “Last Gasp” Mississippi River Cruise on October 20th. The only political related discussions allowed will be who’s boat performs best; Lap Strake vs. Single Planked vs. Double Planked vs. steel Roamer vs. Aluminum Roamer vs. Fiberglass vs. Wood Commander vs. Plywood Cavalier, etc.
It’s good to go Woody Voting this time of year.
Man I’m bummin’ have to paint the garage. Ya’all have fun on the lake and don’t forget to drown a politician if you get the chance, it will help the un-employment numbers
if you wait long enough the connie or one like it may be on boat angels or boneyard boats. all my boats lean to starboard . really beautiful pictures.
I vote that Matt is insane with moments of clarity. When asked ‘Take me to your leader’ I take them out to the shed and show them which Lyman is there at the time. I love my family, friends Lymans and Nation. God Bless America and all its wood boats.
Allen, I have 4 put away, 2 in “temporary” storage — a.k.a. owner denial — and 1 at the dock (the Whaler).
Beauty thing about a Whaler is they can be cut out of the ice in the late fall, and placed on the ice, awaiting thaw, in the late spring. Bulletproof boats. Everyone should own one.
Re the election, I’m a “no.” To quote Woody Allen, politicians are like a notch below child molesters.
And, as a colleague reminded me yesterday, he oughta know.
OK Watson, how many are in the shop? The numbers don’t seem to be adding up…..
vote for me
I promise a woody in every pot!
Paul, I miscounted. (Too many boats or early stage dimentia.)
been boating last two days, beautiful weather….totally agee with digusting political theatre….don’t need it…..GO BOATING.
John in VA.
new here, enjoying your style.
