If You Are Sitting At Home Reading This, You’re Pathetic!

Out on friday. 70 and balmy. What perfect boating weather. Dang that VaNess 430 hums..

I dare you to comment. Do it, Mr sitting there with your computer while the real Woody Boaters are out enjoying what could be the last killer weekend of the year. The leaves are spectacular. Sidra spectacular!  Obscure reference alert. You win something if you guess it.. Anyway, if you are inside, shame on you. Get out there and take a gillion pictures. And no, no lame leaves like Mayer did last year. Or not “Real ” leaves like Chad.. Obscure reference hint….

Oh, by the way Mr. Sit inside with your computer, last year you proclaimed last gasp weekend on Lake Hopatcong and went away. We had a great month of boating after that.We will do the deciding thanks.

HA.. Its 75 here in VA and stunning, the leaves are just starting to turn. Perfect time for fun. We will be boating here in VA until November at this rate. These less humid days with the leaves in full color are priceless times out on the water. And .. Mr Hopatong. WE ARE WOODY BOATER.. IF WE SAY ITS LAST GASP ITS LAST GASP! NO BOATING AFTER THAT! HA

Unfortunately, I think you missed last gasp in Michigan by a few weeks. It’s 45 and raining this morning. We had a pretty lousy fall. I finally gave up hope, and winterized Water Lily on Wednesday. May all you WoodyBoaters have a great boating weekend where you can still enjly it.

Last gasp was a week ago when we hurriedly winterized the boats before a deep freeze with temps in the low 20’s. You guys in Virginia may be able to keep boating but we are in restoration season up here.

This is why you make such an excellent addition to the CCABC board, so much more non-boating time available than the rest of the country. You’re so lucky. Wait why am I not boating, groan……….I’m pathetic.

I am not actually on the board, just a volunteer. I think I failed the background check for board members and officers.

Sidra was a character on Sienfeld, played by Terry hatcher. In the scene Sidra described her second base as spectacular and real. Just like the foliage on Lake Hopatcong. Now, off for a ride!

Its been pouring here for the last 3 days! Winterized the boats yesterday. Iits rained probably 3 out of 7 days a week for the last month.

I pulled out and Last Gasp’d prematurely this year.

WE are WOODY BOATER! And to prove it, I’m gonna go out to the garage and build an ice boat so I can WoodyBoat all Winter. There would be no LAST GASP. I could GASP all freakin’ year long.

I must really suck. I’m at work reading this! BUT, if it’s any consulation, I did think to myself while I was driving to work, “today would be a good day to go boating.” Does that count?

    Real or fake leaves?

Susie, call Dr. Bison and ask him if they are real and spectacular. Tell him it’s for me.

I’m taking a break from cleaning the damn leaves out of the damnned Doughboy swimming pool as we shut down for the winter… I’ve got leaves, water and even a bit of sunshine, and if you think about it, a pool is just a boat turned inside-out – So There!

50 deg or so today here and snow in the mountains tonight. And to think, two weeks ago we were giving rides on Chelan…

I should be working on the Tolly later today 🙂

The 80+ day drought is over and I’m planting a new lawn in the rain. The boats are all snug in their bed for another winter. Other than riding the ferry twice a day I haven’t been in a boat all year. That’s what happens when you buy an overgrown farm to relax. ??????

As it’s probably the first day in a dozen that it wasn’t raining, I spent all morning on my Greavette….(working on it that is).
She’s sportin’ all new rub rail and trim on the splashrails….
There’s nothing else to do while the new motorand drive get some tweekin and freshened up.

Still plenty of nice weather in Ga. The water’s low at Lake Hartwell but all boats are afloat. Great time of year to be on the water..Things can change rapidly here in the South though so i have a goldenrod heater and all the winterizing stuff close at hand. Happy boating!
BTW I think Capt’n Grumpy was referring to the monolithic ice and wood-pulp platform that was supposed to serve as a floating airport in WWII.

What the hell am I reading here?! What’s wrong with you people?! No one is talking ice yet. That’s at least a couple months away.

Boats can be pulled but stored TEMPORARILY.

Motors can be drained but remain at the ready, COMMISSIONED.

Penguins can arrive but remain wary of being RUN OVER.

Over? Did you say “over”? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

    [Germans? Forget it, he’s rolling.]

And it ain’t over now. ‘Cause when the goin’ gets tough… [thinks hard] the tough get goin’! Who’s with me? Let’s go! [runs out, alone; then returns] What the f _ _ _ happened to the WoodyBoaters I used to know? Where’s the spirit? Where’s the guts, huh? “Ooh, we’re afraid to go boating, we might get in trouble.” Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I’m not gonna take this. Rain, it’s dead man! Snow, dead! Ice –

Dead! That’s right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these inclement bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.

We’re just the guys to do it.

    Let’s do it.

    LET’S DO IT!!

[Chaos ensues–for most of the rest of the boating season]
