A 84 Degree Day At Woody Boater HQ In Reedville Virginia

Yes, that’s the Boatress and a heat gun!
Yesterday was one of those special days. Things all just kinda fell into place and magic was able to happen. Maybe it was that its was warm enough to wear shorts again? maybe it was a surprise visit from M-fine who was down here for a sail boat race for his kids?

Yes that’s M-fine and a Rockfish BLT and some Hush Puppys at the Crazy Crab in Reedville.
It was windy as hell, and very low tides, so no real boating, but I did get to get some chores done and have a fun lunch with M-fine, and work on Sweet Pea. Now back to work today. Time to pay for the day.

Still working through colors! Thanks to Kirby Paints for helping find the perfect custom color. I LOVE THESE FOLKS!

A visit to Tiffany Yachts who has a ton of goodies

I was able to strip off 40 years of paint over her logo

A fairing compound was applied to level out all the issues.

Slim was on standby as my protection from all the fans that now hang out in front of HQ. Dont tell anyone, but she will lick your head off. But yikes she has one mean look

Murphy went for a ride to Jett’s Hardware in Reedville for some sandpaper. This used to be a Century Dealer way way back in the day.

Sunset on the creek

A warm summer night.
No boating yet in Michigan. 30F with freezing rain today, but we have the little skipper visiting for the weekend, so it made the cabin fever fun. Enjoy the warm weather!
Reedville was an amazing place to visit. The weather is perfect. They have a ton of boats and dogs. They put bacon on fish sandwiches.
And Jimmy is everywhere.
Stop at the hardware store and grab some items, and when you walk out Jimmy will be there. Stop at a light waiting for the turn arrow? Guess who just happens to be in the truck behind you.
Did I mention the weather? No snow, no freezing rain or ice storms. Just 80 and sunny with a refreshing breeze. And did I mention they have fish sandwiches with BACON!
Great looking truck
How about a full side picture
I am in the process of turning a 68 Chevrolet short box stepside
pickup into a replica Chris Craft dealer service truck
Need some ideas for door logos box rails etc
Here ya go
The fleet
And a possible new look. Red wheels with new logo and old stle type. We may be getting a new Blue Chevy Truck, not sure.
Great pics of everything life should be- awesome dogs, cool truck, a real hardware store, great friends, perfect weather, iconic boat, and a beautiful woman to do the paint stripping for you!
BTW, THANK YOU for not photoshopping me out of that photo. I was a little nervous going to bed last night!
You can keep the 80°. I’d rather wake up with fresh snow like today😁
Love the red wheels & new logo for the truck!
M Fine visits Reedville! Hope you put him to work on Sweet Pea.
Lady with heat gun working on the boat. How did you keep from ravishing her?
84 degrees?? Stop rubbing it in. 33 and freezing rain upstate NY this am. Didn’t get as much ice as predicted. If that’s any consolation.
“Wagner” on the heat gun reminds me of the day my wife saw the Wagner paint sprayer ad on TV. Probably $19.95….”But wait..” Anyhow she bought the thing and suggested my son-in-law and I paint the house. By day’s end we had more paint on us than on the house. Never again !
By the way….Love the truck !
Backup at the boat ramp. These Virginia people move slow!
The weather sounds nice. We might get sunshine in Oregon by July 5th!
On a different note, working (stripping) with lead based paint chips over a waterway with NO collection tarps would get you a $25000 fine (or more) by the Oregon DEQ, even if your a ‘homeowner’ (boat owner). I’d look into the rules for another column.
Mike
Hard to tell in the photo, but there is plenty of distance between where they are stripping and the water.
Our water is sacred to us. We eat the stuff in there. So yes, we are very careful about stuff from the paint. All cleaned up and put in a trash bag and have a shop vac following the sander. And yes tarps and drop cloths.
Here some old truck lettering.
Over a foot of snow in Maple City Michigan yesterday. 3 hours of snow plowing in the last 2 days just to keep the drive open. the only plus side is my boat customers are not yelling at us for getting the boats in the water. There is no water it’s all ice!
Wish I had known Mfine was coming…..and the trawler is the perfect thing for the boatress…..really a nice boat.
I had to go to a memorial service for a friend and missed the great weather day….he would have told me to forget the service and hit the water…but…..oh well….need to GO BOATING after my 20 K yard bill/restoration.
John in Va.
Sorry John,
It was a fairly last minute trip. The kids just qualified a couple weeks ago but one of the skippers couldn’t come so we weren’t sure we could find an alternate and would make the trip until recently.
If you are out boating on the Rappahannock today and see close to 40 little sailboats, turn due south and I should be there on shore.
Matt, pretty windy day…..great that the kids are into sailing….you were only 10 miles from my boat/marina…..will call you when I get to Keuka this summer….

I do like the current Woody Boater font on the truck. Definitely do the red wheels.
You have to stop showing photos of Sweet Pea, Jimmy’s Barn and now the pickup with the cool big back window, the envy is killing me.
Just kidding, show more!!
Another beautiful day dragging the fat guy thru the snow. Going to miss that soon. He tried to get me to fetch some geese for dinner. Ain’t gonna happen, we’re both too slow for that. Besides the water is cold and dirty.
