Best moment of the evening was Al getting the Hagerty award and the standing ovation – beautiful. Awards and trophy’s are nice, but recognition of the lifetime of committment and contribution by Al is the most lasting sentiment to be gleaned from tonight’s event.

Carla is the queen of Hagerty Marine Insurance and much much more than a stunning jaw dropper in a white dress.. Her and Chris are always at the shows and fun as heck folks to hang out with.

Recognizing Al at the banquet last night was one of the highlights of my 23 years with Hagerty. Class act all the way…love you Al. Kudos to the Harrisons – another class act in this hobby we all love. Rick, yes call me for a quote!

Having been involved in wood boating sincce the 70’s – Minnetonka – Lake Tahoe – I’ve seen all kinds of awards given. The one that warms my heart more than all the others was the Al Schinnerer Hall of Fame. Over the years I have called Al for an oddball part I needed too late to have fabricated before a show. He has always come through with perfect parts and on time. He has made my work look better for years. He is a friend and one of the classiest guys I know. And you can’t buy that. Congratulations Al!

Another “Hall of Famer” was Chuck Miklos who passed away and year ago in July. His widow – Mary and sons, Frank, Eric, and Bobby were all present to recieve the award. Chuck was the “go-to-guy” for Century boat owners for the 60 years. We all miss him but are comforted by having his sons very active in the hobby to take up the reins.
