Right now I’m at the computer typing this, looking out the window at Lake George after launching our 1948 17′ CC Deluxe (from Algonac 64 years ago,) for the season. All original except for a few parts from Peter Henkel, original K motor strong as ever. Coolish breeze; heat wave gone.

I’m supposed to be out on the private island right now partying with Matt and Texx but 50 yards off the dock my engine died and by the time I limped back to the dock everyone was gone. On a positive note at least it didn’t happen 5-10 miles away. Back to the restorer on Monday. At leasr I have a new WoodyBoater hat to wear around while I wait for them to get back. What you don’t have one, well I think this is a one off prototype so I may not have a SOV shirt but I got a hat that’s getting stained and sweaty while I try to prep the boat for judging. Turns out you need to check the box if you DON’T want to have it judged, gotta read the fine print more carefully. Beautiful weather here.. Also if anyone here in Algonac reads this today or tomorrow I need to bum a ride over to the Old Club for my wife anf me please.

I just launched my 1948 22ft Chris Craft for the first time in eight years. She leaked for a bit (original bottom), but quickly sealed, mostly, to a small trickle.
Life is good.

Just got finished cuttin’ grass in the 90 degree heat and then I’m rearranging my sock drawer you bast…, oh, man ridden’ with Chris in Algonac, doesn’t get any better than that. One of these days…
Btw, are there any original CC buildings left besides the water tower at the marina? Y’all have fun, looking forward to the pictures and synopsis.

We had a welcome party in what I think was the final assembly building. HUGE only partly decribes it. There were 3 or 4 large yachts in there (68 feet for 1 of them) plus all our cars were parked in there. The party only took up 1 small corner and you still could have tossed a football around without hitting anything. I think that is the only remaining building.
Rick says:
After all was said and done I had a good time today, MI people are freindly and easy to talk to, especially after I had a couple of cold ones. Expected Texx to be a grizzled, long bearded, grey haired, bad biker dude with a pony tail running from the police on his Harley Hog for some reason. Boy was I wrong. Soft spoken nice guy. And Matt is like a friend right off the bat. Show is tomorrow but the boats already here are super. One cruiser that came in tonight came out of the factory with triples though its down to 2 now.
Carl Garmhaus says:
Glad all of you had fun today. Get a good nights sleep, you will need it for tomorrow!
