Letttttttttttt’s Get Reeeeeaaaaaady To Go Boating!
All across the country folks reported in yesterday. sadly much of same crappy weather. but not in Hessel. there three days of summer started officially with little Salter out on the boat. go Salter go, this year Salter has learned not to put his fingers in the steering wheel holes.
finally here in va the winds died down but all the water was gone! A full moon and the winds had left us at a near record low tide. Dam. But once high tide kicked in we lit that sucker up and went woody boating.
Further north in one of the mid states fellow woody boater Martin Belcher got to light up the riva! Dam the weather a 427 duel quad motor has to breath. No doubt Martin spent the day looking for gas stations. go Martin Go!
Looking at high 80’s later this week, time to get some salt spray on the mahogany.
Sunny start today here in Maine. YAHOO!!!
Still in the low 50’s this morning, but hoping to get one Clorox bottle in today after replacing the bilge pump.
By the way when is that “SWAG” store going to be Re-Stocked. I need a new T.
BTW
Love the shot of Salter!
I think that kid has the bug.
I am sorry not a 427 but a 440 with duel quads. Not the best start to summer, but not the worst.
With a boat like that, poor Salter will have to spend all his time fighting off the young ladies.
Thank you for ignoring the split in the dash. But who cares, when you’ve got an original right? Splits, cracks, wear marks, scratches, dings, stains… Bring on the patina!
boats in the camp header look like whirlwinds or wagemakers…hot molded boats for sure?
neat pic. Would love to find a whirlwind CANOE, used at lots of summer camps.
John in Va.
Salter is a great nautical name, and remember, fingers are for inserting in the nose, not the steering wheel. And he looks pretty smug behind that wheel.
We got a full day of Boatin’ in Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but todays plans were scrubbed due to cool cloudy weather. We did meet up with Lyman Tyme’s big sister over the weekend, in our port, for some repairs to the starboard side rub rails after running into bad weather down in Michigan City, Ind. “Pilgrim” Winters in Grand Haven, Mi and Summers up in Bay Harbour, Mi. “Lyman Tyme” wants to grow up to be a big girl just like Pilgrim…
Dennis, I had the pleasure to cruise between Bay Harbor and Harbor Springs a couple hours on Pilgrim about 8 years ago. What a superb boat. As I recall, the owner had retained the original mechanical steering (he liked the feel). I believe the motors were GM diesels from the 50s, if indeed they made diesels back then. The boat is not over-restored.
Got into the 70’s here on the Coast of Maine today.
Got the first Clorox bottle wet and got to cruise around the point a little. Feels good!
The Woodies are still dry.
