Looking For A Spare Or About To Canceled Room At Lake Dora.

No room at the inn!
Today as a public service, we are putting out the call. If you had booked a room in Lake Dora for the big show, we have readers looking. Things are booked up all over the place. If you have a room, or huge house with a guest suite you want to rent out. Let us know at Matt@Woodyboater.com, or you can put it in the comment section. I would imagine that if you have a spare room in your house, you may want to know who the lookers are. One is a very regular sponsor who’s room was not booked properly by the hotel, and no reservation was ever taken last year. If you are staying at the Best Western that would be best since many of us are going to be there. Hopefully this finds them a room at the inn!
I just did a quick check on http://www.airbnb.com and it showed over 40 homes available for those dates in the area. You’ll have to see how close they are, sometimes it covers a fairly large area, but there are several very close still available.
Flash! Thought you had disappeared forever – haven’t seen you around here in a long time. Good to know you are still part of the show.
Anybody know if those new on site properties have any Marriott, Hyatt or Hilton franchise connections so we can use up some honor points ?
Wilson the point is regardless of affiliation everyone is booked solid. Sounds like it will be a GREAT event!
Troy, from what Al tells me we are probably staying in the same place which has no major hotel affiliation
Usually The Mission Inn has vacancies. It’s a drive but more comfortable than a pontoon boat.
Don’t bother Wilson, The only thing going for them is the location and the view. We have stayed there 2 years in a row and it never got any better.
I believe by law, hotels have to keep spare rooms for “walk-ins”. Just show up and check in.
no such law exists, you r misinformed . my wife has been the director of a major hotel group for over 20 years, nothing could be further from the truth.
Thank you for all the responses! Within this wonderful hobby of ours, WE ARE FAMILY! I am set, thanks to someone making a call to one of the hotels in the immediate area. Several reached out to me with offers and I can’t thank you enough. Please know if you’re passing through Traverse City, there’s always space at my place. Matt and Suzy..xoxo!!
Wow. Thanks for not saying who it was. I would have ended up on the floor.
You can always roll the dice and not book a hotel in advance. That program usually leads us to those less populated motels on the outskirts of town. (and no Wi-Fi)
Love the picture of Kabot’s Habit. Joe is still in our thoughts, what a boater!
I told Joe when he decided to sell that boat to me that I’d put it to good use in our hobby, and I would make sure it got around. I think it’s done him proud in the last 5 years that I’ve had it, and tomorrow it will betaking another crew on a tour of the lakes around Mount Dora. I love this simple, unassuming boat. I really wish I’d had the chance to meet Joe, which I did not have the opportunity to do because of his illness.
Some of us got in at the Hampton Inn…..booked up now…..but as to the Mission Inn option…..I second the review above….had very bad service there about 3 years back….bad. pretty golf course…but I have no time for chasing a white ball…better to GO BOATING……which I did today….though not for long….
Sounds like we will have a great reunion of friends and boats!@!!!
John in Va.
Although not on the show site, Al and I currently have reservations for rooms a lot closer than Mission Inn…And as you say, there is little time for chasing the little white ball. I had a great hamburger at Mission Inn once.
we are staying at the best western in leesburg and I just check their site and they are showing 8 rooms open.
Thanks Tom. I just called again and they are telling me they are booked. Will keep trying as that is my choice hotel due to the boaters taking over that hotel! See everyone soon!!
