STAYING WITH YESTERDAY’S THEME from the Toronto ACBS Spring Shop Tour, we thought it would be fun to share a recent episode of PowerBoat Television here for your Sunday morning viewing pleasure. Grab a coffee and a some French toast, and enjoy the 20 minute episode.

Produced in Canada, PowerBoat Television has been North America’s premiere recreational boating television show for more than 25 years. Our friend and fellow woody boater Mike Gridley is the Producer of the weekly half hour show, and he currently owns a beautiful 1964 Greavette shown in today’s header shot – so he gets it.

Mike often features segments on classic boats on the television show and supports the hobby whenever he can with his informative contributions. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Mike last year during the annual Gravenhurst boat show to talk boats – it was great.

Starting with a Toronto ACBS Spring Shop Tour – the February 24, 2016 PowerBoat TV Episode uses the magic of TV, featuring three segments throughout the episode to highlight two special wooden boats in different stages of restoration by Gary Clark at Clark Wooden Boats in Gravenhurst. Mike begins with some footage from the early days of the boat restorations, then features the completed boats being water tested in October 2015.

One of those boats is a radical wooden hydroplane built in the 1930’s by Minett Shields – designed by Ventnor, that Chris Bullen noted in yesterday’s Spring Shop Tour report.

The other boat is a very cool, two owner 1931 Ditchburn Gentleman’s Racer named “L’AIGlON”.

The photos here today are a few screen grabs from the PowerBoat TV Episode.

Great episode. Mike has done an excellent job on the show for blending the classic boating segments in with the new product reviews. Watching this show has been our Saturday morning tradition for quite a few years. Well done Mike!
