On The Road To Woody Chairville!
Reporting live from Port Deposit Maryland. Today we just picked up some new cool special woody boater chairs for our tent in Florida. This year we got a larger tent shared with the Chris Craft Antique Boat Club. Every year it turns into a fun rest area. So? Cool special chairs are a must! Woohooo just 7 weeks from now we will be lounging!
7 LOOOOOONG weeks!!
Those are cool chairs!
A few weeks ’til FL gives you plenty of time to fill those wide chair seams.
But don’t overdo it or Best Preserved Paul will jump all over you for messing with original.
Time to hear the ring of a mallet packing oakum into those seams. Maybe put a sprinkler under it 1st though to see if they swell closed.
Do it old skool. Tie them to the lift and lower it just enough to let them sink, but not enough to get water in the engine. Speaking of, what kind of power do those have?
I’m pretty sure of the size of the powerplant but I believe it runs on chicken-on-a-stck.
Only in this blog can people find so much humor in a folding chair, or in any other inanimate object. I love it!
By the way, if we’re playing “What’s My Classic Chair” with this, my money’s on a Feathercraft, given all that aluminum.
Then again, it is pretty square. Did Century ever make an aluminum Arabian?
No, I don’t believe Century ever made an aluminum anything. But given your comment from yesterday, (who would beat who to the bottom), I throw down the gauntlet:
Your X19 and a Century Arabian at the dock. You both pull the plugs and see who beats who to the bottom. We can all sit around in Matt’s chairs and watch the contest.
Seriously, Alex – I really enjoyed the article in the Brass Bell and commend you on your collection.
6 comments on a friekn chair.. ON a Saturday.. What the? HA, I love it
Matt,
cool chairs, where did you get em.
tom
ebay, I am hording them for the show.. These were close enough by to save on shipping which are usually more than the chairs.. Some polish and varnish and these could be some bad ass chairs..
Some gold leaf on the back that says WoodyBoater
All over it, I am doing a silver logo with red flag up one of the slats..
COOL!
I’m not going to comment on the chairs. Doing so would only reinforce that my life is pretty dull. Matt, could you erase this comment after I post it?
Also, can you make me a chair that says LILY on the back?
I don’t think your alone in your dullness..they are easy to find. 20 bucks each.. Still need another 4 and I am set.. With a set..
Matt, when you make a LILY chair for Chad, be sure to make a matching wagon to go with it.
Oh, and Chad, your comment’s showing.
What, no loungers?
7 weeks! You betcha – already registered and have my Haiwaiin floweredy shirt picked out for the picnic cruise! And I’m bringing my special order Woody Boater hat, WB t-shirts and signature wine! Yee Haw, Y’all! (Ooops! wrong venue) ARRRGH!, Maties!
ARRRGH! – When are you accepting reservations for boat rides during the Sunnyland show?
Texx, since I will be first mate on ARRRGH! this year and since it’s now way past Larry’s bedtime, I will answer your question. Whenever you want, the ride list is wide open & he’d love to have you aboard. His daughter & family may come on Saturday. We can’t take Alex because then he’ll want an XK with an I/O.
Thanks WoodyGal – I’m looking forward to it already.
Ditto, and your ride is confirmed!
Matt,
Are you going to take a lead from the Superbowl and release the 2012 “Woodyboater” T shirts design early?
no way.. infact I am on TV this morning on that very issue. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2012/02/washington-business-report-feb-5-2012-72213.html
You have to sit through me babbling, but i stake my position on the issue .. its the top story
Very entertaining clip. You clean up well, but who dresses you? or are you like me and get dressed in the dark and hope your socks match?
A tie?? WHAT, no WOODYBOATER shirt??
If you note, its off center, not tied right, and shhh its my only tie.. I would have plugged woody baoter for sure, That dang super bowl is dominating the conversation
Hey Matt, forget trying to slip in a plug for WB. Think bigger. Take up a collection to run a WoodyBoater Superbowl ad next year. I’d pay good money to see you start a Scripps-powered 25′ Sportsman from the dock with only The Force. Of course, you’ll also need The Force to lift and sniff, run the blower a couple minutes, pull out the choke, etc. And, if you use my boat instead of Paul’s, you’ll need some extra cranking Force. I can see it now. A 5 minute WB Superbowl ad. Ha.
