The Antique Boat Museum And WoodyBoater Partner To Forge A New Fun Era In Classic Boating.

Yup, this really happened! No photoshop, We are beyond thrilled to announce the partnership with The Antique Boat Museum and move forward to a new shared experience in getting the word out on all the cool stuff ABM has, and is doing. And WOW, they are doing a bunch of stuff. And we also get exclusive access to their drawers, closets and behind the scenes goodies.

Have you ever been in the storage area! Like a huge barnfind!

You will in many cases be the first to see stuff here even before it goes out on display. How cool is that? The team up there and us have been working out the details and today, just a couple days before they open for the season, MAY 4 the, we are set to go.

Timeless fun in the Thousand Islands

Part of the fun will be reporting LIVE from Clayton this year again, and seeing fellow Woody Boaters up there.

The ABM team join the gang!

The Thousand Islands is very rich in our cultures history, and the Antique Boat Museum is at the center of it all, making it our cultures National, if not International Museum. Have you been before?

Timeless magic

No? This is the year for sure. And if you haven’t been there in a while, there is a ton of new cool stuff to see, and participate in.

Amazing exhibits, symposiums, and workshops.

The entire area is a Woodyboaters paradise. A huge shout out to the folks behind the scenes that made this happen, and we look forward to a long fun filled partnership! Wooohooo!

Great news! The ABM should be on every Woodyboater’s bucket list…several times.

Sorry but getting in their drawers may be outside my comfort level. Looking forward to reports. Wonder if they have an area just for correct toilet seats or zippers or are they just trying to steal your knowledge? Hope you have everything in writing (maybe on some type of paper roll).

My favourite for boating and fishing. While driving back from Ottawa to Toronto on Saturday, I was near Gananoque on the 401 and looked up at an overpass as someone was towing what I think was a 24′, (or so) Lyman towards the river. I shot a glance at the stern and just caught the name ‘Spray”. Made me feel very good indeed.

This is great news! A group of us Michigan chapter WoodyBoaters cruised the Thousand Islands area last year. We also toured the ABM and had a blast. We had a great meeting with the Thousand Islands chapter folks to tell them what we were working on for the Port Huron ACBS International event. We look forward to going back when they do the show next year!

Like Larry, I started there early on…Back in the late ’60s. Even did the Rideau Canal trip in the Zipper with Museum Director Bo Collins in ’69. Bill Danforth, was anther great museum Director with a great house on Jolly Island. Lotta memories at that place.

Very exciting. I’m a big fan of both. This out reach alliance is brilliant for both. Huge material for Woody Boater and great reach for the ABM, not to mention the sharing of the amazing ABM archives with family’s around the world for FREE. The ABM collection is nothing short of amazing.
That said, I read Woody Boater regularly and love the flavor of their unvarnished non minced and straight-out articles. plus they make very cool T-shirts and coffee cups.
Keep up the great work guys.

Congrats Rebecca and Matt. Two great resources to encourage current and future growth of the hobby.
We spent a week in the area in 2011, and attended their August boat show.
This area is a must for cruising with clear water and so much to see.

Glad they weren’t flying it at half mast. As a member, one was able to take a boat out to row from their livery, Not sure if they still do that but 14 years ago, my son and I went out for a row. Wish I could find my pictures of that day, And on that day we stopped by the transient dock nearby and a friend was tied up there in his Hatteras on his way doing “the Great Loop”. How serendipitous. Look forward to this partnership. I’ll have to renew my membership, a museum worth supporting.
