The Last Chance Day To Get Ready For Lake Dora In Jimmy’s Barn!

Scarlet watching the work!
Yesterday was the day. The last day to get ready for this weeks big Southern migration of Woody Boaters to Lake Dora. We spent the day finishing up some winter jobs and getting Termite Terror ready. Good thing we checked stuff out. Dead Battery. But otherwise she is ready to go.

Jimmy and I together in Jimmys Barn!

New cleaned up Strainer from Jim Staib, ready to install

Yikes. Good thing we went through all this

Painting WECATHEMS bottom. Her final coat.

DONE!

Termites bottom was done a month ago. But time to clean her up. We chose this boat for ease of size. Putting her on the beach and not large to not take up so much space.

And of course, in from Terry Fiest, the taunting stunning image from Lake Dora! Warm Sunshine!

Just look! Think. A weekend of sunshine and boating, OR?
That sounds like music to the ears. Wife and I are leaving tommorow after work to hopefully sunshine boats shorts and tshirts. woo hoo
Today’s weather “Blinding rain”
The Canadian bimini.
Jim:
The good news is the forecast is for sunny weather after today…Enjoy the trip….wish I could be with you….See you at Tavares.
Jim, one more day of heavy rain –Tues 79 with Thundershowers, then sunny the rest of the week-Wed 68, Thurs 66, Fri 72, Sat 80, Sun 82, Mon 84 — going to be a great show.
Great story today. Love that first fire sound of an inboard in the Spring. Another few weeks to go up here in Michigan. I like the shot of Scarlet. Wonderful old boat dog!
You all have a great time at Dora. We will join you down there some year.
Lovin’ it. Go Cavs!
By the sound of that starter it sounds like the original 283? Weren’t you going to swap out the motor? Thought you were upgrading to 350 cu. in.?
its a mercury 350 new engine. This little plywood sucker is a BEAST!
Looking at the sea strainer hardware – a lesson for everyone to disassemble and check that stuff every decade or so – just sayin…
“Wecatchem” could have become marine habitat in a hurry had that failed and even more scary is what may have become of Matt & Suzy!
hey matt, can you explain that gate valve setup?, is that for engine flushing?
mike
Yep, that looks like the Home Depot engine flush kit.
I see you left the pink stuff in all winter which is probably safe in the South. Up here where -20 is a possibility, I fill, let it mix, and then drain, and I leave the drains open for the winter. Any undrainable liquid will be mostly pink stuff and if it does get super cold, it has room to expand without generating any presure.

Keep an eye out for us this weekend!
