Hunting Season is Here – En Route to Winsted, MN

We checked in to one of those premium roadside motels at 1:00 AM in Jamestown, North Dakota en route to the big Warner Auction in Winsted, MN. You can usually tell how busy the motels are by how many cars and trucks are in the parking lot, and for some reason every roadside motel in Jamestown was packed! I walked in to the motel lobby and after waking up the nice lady sleeping behind the front desk I asked “Is there a convention in town, why are the motels so full?”

She looked up at me and said “IT’S HUNTING SEASON!!” – “I have one room left, it’s a smoking room and the heater doesn’t work… It’s the last room in town and you can have it for 69.95 plus tax.”

I guess we should have figured it out, because for the last six hours before arriving at the motel in Jamestown, in the darkness of the countryside, there was a steady stream of deer standing on the side of the road with that look on their face… Should I leap out now or later?

Matt and Krunch are doing the 22 hour drive from the East Coast and we are doing the 18 hour drive from the Pacific Northwest and will all arrive in Winsted, MN later today.

Folks from all over the country and even Europe will be attending the big auction, viewing day is Friday so stay tuned to Woody Boater for daily updates and all the news from the Warner Auction.

It’s “HUNTING SEASON” in Minnesota, so if your hunting for an Antique Wooden Boat or parts, Winsted in the place to be! Happy Hunting…

We had the same crap happen in Mino0t – nothing available except a smoking room in a flea bag, 12:30AM though, we were early I guess. The -place here in Buffalo that Matt hooked up is nice though.
