Good News -“I Am Going To Kick This Stroke’s Butt!” – UPDATES HERE!

Carla from Hagerty
This past Thursday our friend and Captain of all Insurance at Hagerty, experienced a stroke while at work. We found out and kept this private since it’s a personal thing, and as much as we knew you would want to know we felt it was up to Carla to let folks know.

Lake Dora!
Carla reached out to us on Saturday and other friends on Facebook today. And we are thrilled to report Good News. Carla will be back, but only after some serious time healing. To quote Carla via Text below

Carla is a good pal, and brings joy to so many.
“2 days in ICU, 3 days on post stroke floor have me already thinking of Sunnyland.”
Carla followed it by saying this to all of us.
“Seriously! Truly blessed with all the fine people in my life. No one is better than boaters..especially classic boaters! Got my IV’s out, working with various therapists, doctors etc.; however, waiting for BCBS approval to move to an intense 5 hour a day PT and OT daily regime. Once in, hope to be done in 1 month. I will live in a facility during the entire time. From there, pray for steady progression. I am alive with very, very little speech impediment and no facial droop. Life is good. My new mantra “I am going to kick this stroke’s butt!” The Hagerty girl in the white jeans, blue shirt and black ball cap will return in the spring!!
Life is good.. I can heed a warning, Matt.”
WE ARE LEAVING THIS STORY LIVE TODAY- This is the first time in our 10 year history we have done this. Carla is reading this and the support has been overwhelming at Hagerty and the Hospital. You can comment here to share best wishes and love! Carla is there for all of us! It’s great to know we are here for her!
Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.

As a fellow Stroke Survivor, all the best for a speedy recovery. Kudos to your staff at Hargett or wherever you were quickly getting you help. While I’m sure your care givers will recommend appropriate support systems for you, I’ve followed the National Stroke Association on FB since mine and find it helpful and informative. Again, all the best.
Thank you so much for the guidance. I will definitely follow the site.
