Run With The Wind Oreo, You Were The Best Ever

She loved life, and life loved her back

Many of you old time Woodyboaters may recall when we got Oreo, it was around 13 years ago, and she has been a regular here. I am sad to say that she has left us all and is where ever dogs go. Heaven isn’t good enough for them all.

Her first day in our home

I know that to many folks out there, the passing of a poochy is sad, but she did live a very very full life, and was always surrounded by other poochies, and family. She loved adventures and never complained. NEVER. She maybe barked 4 times in her entire life. Not kidding, and was sweet to everyone. Yes, the perfect pooch.

She was a Havana Silk, which was a combo something mixed with a Havanse, which are deeply loved dogs. I think the official dog of Cuba.

And man oh man she loved a boatride. But she had one big problem

Her coat was a double coat, and would sink like a rock. So she always had to be in a life jacket. Which she did not really like

But always up for some fun

Her first boat ride, this made several magazines.

Her and Bruiser were best buds

Loved a wet beach run

She taught Mr B a lesson or two

More from her first boat ride

She loved Stinky

And just puttering around the yard

And then ready to go

She was on all our summer rides

Loved the Wicker Sisters

And her brother and sister. She is now with them all, barking at something, and she is watching them, tail wagging and thinking she is not alone. Ruby on the left, and Pepe on the right. And the Boatress in the middle.

Matt, I feel for you and Suzy. We lost our Mo after 12 years last April. It didn’t seem right being on the boat without her all last Summer. We still really miss her.
RIP Oreo. I know you had a good life!

Sorry for your loss. I also had to face the loss of my daughter’s Bella. Like Oreo, she very rarely barked. Bella was certified for working with my daughter as a team at a Pediatric Hospital, providing emotional support to traumatized children. Although not much of a water-dog, she would swim with her life-preserver, and enjoyed boat rides.

Dogs are just family with fur.
And if you’re really lucky, God grants you a good dog or two in your life.

Sorry to hear about Oreo.. 13 yrs is near 91 “dog years”. That’s a nice long life. Even the dog will have good memories.

I remember like it was yesterday when we all lost Jackson, he was a true Woody boater fave, and hurt like a ton of bricks. We kinda saw this coming, Oreo had Cushings and was hanging in there, but overnight had some sort of seizure and that was that.

It’s so hard when we lose our buddies… They are truly a blessing to our families and leave such a void when they are gone. She’ll be waiting for you and playing with her buddies over the Rainbow Bridge. RIP Oreo. 🙏🏻🐕‍🦺

FYI, Not sure you were aware that National Oreo Day was yesterday March 6th. Sorry for your loss, I can relate when the only dog we had, a Jack Russell rescue passed. I ran with him every other day. Did not know a dog could stop and pee more than me.

They are family. Jim Staib mentioned the rainbow bridge. Here it is.

I really can not say anything that has not been said. Having had three dogs and several cats, it was always tough to let them go. Matt, my sympathies are with you and Suzy!
