The Brass Bell Rings My Chines..Again!
I should start this story out by saying I don’t know how Bill Basler does it. But the truth is I do. And it’s a mountain of work… This past quarter the Chris – Craft Antique Boat Club lost one of its key players. Bill Baldwin.. No he did not die.. Can’t anyone say lost or past in this hobby without someone thinking they are dead…. HA! Bill Baldwin had been the editor of the Brass Bell for a while and needed to focus on some things around where he lives regarding the local club. And resigned from the magazine…But it did happen in a sudden manner, leaving the folks that do the Brass Bell scrambling. I suppose there is no real easy way to exit such an undertaking. So needless to say this issue was late. Add on that for me and I had failed to change my address ..and my Brass Bell was arriving at my old address. So I just got mine. And … It was worth the wait.. This is without a doubt one of the finest magazines out there. Period. The passion and dead on relevance of the subject matter is dead on. The photography is perfect. PERFECT. For 35 bucks a year. Considering what the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club gives you for that fee is a crime… I think we would all agree, a true value. It’s borderline not fair. One can not imagine the hours that go into it. The devotion of Bill Basler, Don Ayers, and the others that contribute is standing ovation worthy. It’s a testimate to the effort that in a time were magazine readership is low and magazines and other printed formats are dying all over the country that the Brass Bell is growing… My Vintage Yachting cap is off to them… again.. Way to go.
ABSOLUTELY one of the finest magazines I get! I may even like it more than this blog! Just maybe . . . .
ARRRGH!
After such a ringing endorsement, I will have to check into the Brass Bell.
Well put, Mr. Smith!!
