Thunderbird Start Up – OH HELL YA!
A huge thanks to fellow Woody Boater Robert Lyman who had the chance to be this close to Thunderbird when she started up. WOW. Here is Roberts note.
Found myself at a great location to video record Thunderbird’s “Roar-off” around noon today (Saturday).
The port Allison V12 kicks in, soon after the SB side joins the symphony!
I’m no Steve Lapkin, so getting that audio is fun.
Beautiful music, thanks for sharing. Sounds like about a 1500 rpm idle speed!
That is quite a craft! Like Greg said, it is a wonderful sound! Thanks Robert, for sharing this with those of us that are not there! Thanks, Matt!
Leonard Bernstein should be so lucky to conduct that orchestral concert. The only other runabout with just one V12 Allison that I’ve seen was at Weirs Beach Lake Winnepesaukee show and had an inertia starter which sounds incredible when you wind it up and engage it especially when you’re standing behind the 6 inch exhaust pipes.
Great timing to be standing there at that very moment.
…..I was present on that day in May 2007. obviously 🙏
👍🏼
Got to love the sweet sound of industrial art!
