Heart Breaking News – Art Armstrong Passes Away

“Where it all began” Art Armstrong
As you may recall, about a month ago, Art made sure to tel all of us farewell. And I am eternally grateful for that opportunity to have thanked him for what he has meant to all of us. Art’s humor was always a highlight for me and I know, because he told me, you all, us all, our little community we have here on the planet was his fun time. He did promise to call me after he passed away, so I am looking for a sign. And as I told him, ya never die here in WoodyBoaterville, we can bring you back in a nano second. BTW, Art loved it Being remembered as a pal, and still part of the community is all part of who we all are. He’s just in another dimension. AND, he gets to talk to Christopher Smith, and Gar Wood. Can you imagine that conversation?
Art: Hi Chris, Gar, you won’t believe whats happened with all your boats. Seriously. People fight over what sort of screw to use. And Gar, your trash trucks are even appreciated. AND, there is this epoxy stuff that has saved a lot of wood boats, BTW, they are all now pontoon boats, and big plastic tubs. Plastic is like rubber in a way.
Anyway, I know Art is bringing laughter and fun where ever he is right now. I just wish he was here too. I will miss you Art. Not that art, This Art Armstong.

Matt, you nailed it. Art is making new friends and telling funny stories up there.
Happy boating in heaven my friend!
Sad news to be sure. I was thinking Art was premature in the process of divesting his “Objet d’art” which literally means an object considered to be of artistic worth. Art was all of that from what I read even though I didn’t know him personally, I felt a bond through this, our common denominator. RIP Art, yes that Art. Prayers of comfort and God’s grace to all his family members and friends.
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Art. He was truly a gem. I hope they appreciate him in heaven as much as we did on woody boater.
❤️
Art’s granddaughter here. He loved this community so much. Thanks for such special words about Grampa. We will surely miss him.
Thanks for the nice tribute, Matt. No question that Art was one of a kind.
One thing that I noticed about Art, even though I had not met him in person, is the genuine smile that appears on his face in the posted photos of him. Although I can’t vouch for a conversation between Gar, Chris and Art, I do know they did not take their boats with them. I am reminded to use the resources and time while we can, to do good, bring joy, encourage and love others. It appears Art did! I pray for peace, comfort and strength for the family and friends Art left behind. He will be missed…yes that Art!
Sorry to hear of Art’s passing. I haven’t been part of Woodyboater as long as many of you but I still recall so many great stories he contributed, the historical insight he added, the useful hardware and tools he shared and sent to the Railway. I am so glad he shared these wonderful stories with us. He’s contributed so much, I feel like he is deserved of a framed photo in the Reedville Railway Woodyboater Hall of Fame if such a thing exists.
