It feels a little like Christmas opening up these files from Holly up in Huron. Holly has the gift of a great artist. She can make almost any situation feel emotional. Wonderful. Beautiful.

Cloudy sky? No problem. Dock shot? Sure. People yapping about screw sizes? Click. Perfect. THAT is true joy to me, and hopefully to you, too. With so many ways now to render, manipulate and perfect an image, it’s becoming increasingly rare—and wonderfully human—to simply capture a feeling. Thanks, Holly, for letting us feel the moment from up there.

Okay, I gotta say it, And yes the condos help the shot ..because they are so just not there, yet there. The repetitive nature of them is kinda horrible and yet nice all at the same time.

What may look like a simple photo is actually a very thought through image. All this happens in a mila second. Thats the artist eye. It just feels it. CLICK. I will break it down> The colors all work together in harmony, and thats not by chance In a real moment, they don’t, but in this they do. The greens and blues are slightly muted to work, the tan of the building and her pony tail and the hat all co exists in a way that ties it all together. All these colors let the warmth of the varnish wood represent nature, life and passion. And the final touch is very subtle, but the drip of water from the exaust pipe lets you feel the energy, the speed, or the slow rumble of apssing though that crisp water. Note the strong verticl lines of the poles, Crain and lines in the cargo container. In contrast the horizontal lines of the boat. And the kapow moment, the angle of the stern design right under the Chris Craft logo, leads your eye right back in. And the yellow color line in the middle acts as a horizon line leading your eye to the left. And that is why I like this image. For the record, I could do this with every image I pick.
Well yesterday was “here come the boats” day in Port Huron and it kept us hopping getting them all safely tied up. We are ready for show day #1!

After a 4 hour drive to the show in mist and drizzle yesterday the sky finally cleared just as we got to the launch ramp. A quick shout out to the great group of volunteers, especially Rick, for all their help! Today looks to be great weather. An amazing collection of antique and classic boats here!
