Hold on, here we go
I am not all that sure how to follow yesterdays story, and the comment section it’s self is moving for sure. So maybe a good shoot out will keep the vibes going. We will update on Art’s condition as we find out. The first round comes from Kevin Fitzke, who brings a vintage warm vibe and keen eye for style. I of course get to write the captions, so apologies ahead of time.

The best name and graphics EVER, my winner of the year. I am so jealous, I wish I had thought of this. Would buy a boat just to name and letter it like this. But, here it is. DONE! BRAVO, Boat for sale? Oh, and those Lilys work big time.
OMG, Gull Lake has done it again! The boats are amazing. Does anyone else start to drool when looking at those gage clusters or am I just nuts? Thank you Matt and Kevin for sharing the glory!
The Michigan gang is getting together in Port Huron today. We are in the home stretch and got to get it all right!
There are times when you can say that the photos don’t do it justice. These are the opposite. I spent 3 hours at the show, with the million other people on the docks. These photos have given me a better look at many of the fabulous boats that I strained to view in person. Thanks Kevin and Matt for the review.

Some comments on the comments, if I dare, dear Matt. The second image down is the gas cap on Kevin’s boat, Miss Moonshine. It’s a bit of an easter egg. It’s Kevin’s original shop dog, Hank, a dauschund. (See, I can misspell, too.) The seventh image down with “Lycoming” spelled across the dash is a 15.6 foot Mullens Sea Eagle. It’s an all steel boat and so damn cool. That little black box on the steering wheel with the key in it is the control for the Motorola radio. The tube amplifier is up under the bow, if I remember correctly. And that half cylindrical thingy in front of the passenger seat is a cigar lighter and ashtray. I know everyone smoked in their woodies back in the day, but if I was a cigar smoker I’d feel much better about doing it in a steel boat. Finally, the eighth image is Mark Setterholm’s perfect Riva Florida (a class winner and restored by Fitzke.) I’ll let Mark chime in about the upholstery. It’s a perfect reproduction of the original, including those awesome pom poms on the sun pad. I talked to the husband of the woman who did the upholstery and getting those pom poms right and balanced required some math and gymnastics. Of course, my wife and her girlfriend were laser focused on those poms.

Did I miss what the cover picture boat with what appears to be two v16s with
4 carbs each is??

The boat is Gar Wood’s Miss America VIII. Engines were custom built by Harry Miller. Two V16s 1113 CI each. Designed to be lighter and more powerful than the Packard V12 engines. Estimated to put out about 900hp each normally aspirated but also at one time were supercharged. Clocked at 104 mph in 1931. They drove the boat to and from the show docks and fired it up a couple times during the show.
