SHIP! AI Can’t Fix This? WAIT? Maybe ChatGB Can?

Rant, Restorations

SWEET PEA on the rails.

The gods of life’s balance have come back with a vengeance. All this AI crap, and there is no way it knows or can fix this. So I called Chat with George Butler. And now thats some RI, Real intelligence.  Of course this help comes from years of this sort of stuff, and it’s gonna take some work, yes real work, with my hands, and old body to solve.

After some hard cleaning, this area and another apear to be kinda suspect

Sweet Pea has had a leak for years, and it just keeps getting worse no matter how much I try and solve it. So this fall I put her up on the rail, and I swore to the man above, I aint stopping til I stop it. THIS BOAT WILL NOT DIE BECAUSE OF ME!  But I aint stupid, and may have to teach myself how to dig out of this.

We installed these stainless U bolt things to support it all, thinking this may be a fix.

I went inside and looked for the old bolts, which have always been kinda janky. And I was able to pull them out by hand. YIKES., Yes it looks like she is crying

Now, George, Chat GB said there were several things that could cause this, and he moaned. You’re gonna have to get into it, like deep, and then it may not even be that.   Here is the thought that kinda makes the most sense. The through bolts in the keel, are rotten and water is coming in through the holes that are also kinda rotted. We just are not sure where, and you have to CUT the keel to find the problem, if thats the problem. AND to add to that, it could also be the Bronze sleeve that the shaft runs through.  Like he said, Get into it. And I am not a fan of cutting 6 x12 chicks of wood probing for  issues? So, welcome to the real world Mr Matt.. It’s gonna be a fun winter. Stay tuned. This ship is gonna get real….fast.

Now what?

…and we are back! That AI chatter, while entertaining seemed to be a little hostile at times. At least with Sweet Pea, you know what you are dealing with. You may not like it, but it is 100% real. I look forward to the postings on the repair progress and antics!

Agree. I enjoyed Matt’s creativity with AI but got tired of the back and forth drama about it all especially when it gets personal. There’s enough drama at work and in our personal lives.

You have mentioned Stainless Steel and Bronze and I know that you are in brackish water. Has Chat GB mentioned dissimilar metal corrosion?

I also don’t see any bonding system.?.?

I am not sure, I do think these are the original ones, and I believe bronze.

    This might be worth investigating:
Wood rot repair products are offered by both “System 3 epoxy” and “West System epoxy”.
