Look back.
Every time you travel to a new destination, are you not taken aback…possibly more than surprised by what you see or who you meet? And, if you return, do you also consider taking a look at everything from a different vantage or angle?
Along with many others, I am heading to Minnesota in the next few days. The occasion is the annual Bar Harbor Supper Club/Gull Lake Wooden Boat Classic weekend, August 28-29. I can’t recount the number of times that I have been to Gull Lake….first time dates back at least a half dozen years.

Awesome photo preview. Is it too late to register? I always think about just dragging my boat to a show last minute and tagging along. I am not much of a ‘plan in advance’ guy, but am always considering a last minute road trip.
Always a huge treat to see Steve’s photos. Great way to start the day. Have to live vicariously as most boat ramps in Colorado closed due to low water/drought conditions.

It would be Very intimidating to bring a boat to this show. Anyone know what that 4 cylinder motor with overhead cam is in last motor pic? Interesting and I see it was in a helm station aft runabout as in a launch. Spectacular event.

Thank you, Steve. Stunning as usual. And that CIA agent is actually Dane Anderson, who will also be there snapping away. And Floyd R Turbo, I know the pictures make this show look intimidating, but it’s not. Yes, John Allen and Lee Anderson always have a few jaw-droppers at Gull. But just a few. They deliberately leave most of their collections in their boathouses (which they generously share) so that every boat is welcome. The diversity of boats there is what makes Gull so special. And you couldn’t find a better venue. The docks, the food… all of it.
HA, I know it’s Dane, he is the head of our secret intelagence office as well. Need deep, deep info and what Christopher Smith had for supper on his birthday when he was 27, he will know
