Happy Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Día de la Raza, And World Arthritis Day

Community/Web

Well, today has kinda turned into one of those days that now has all sorts of meanings. And because I am an old fart, you know the kind that just slip out and I am not even aware of anymore, well. I choose Columbus day, because that is the holiday that kinda makes sense. Everyday should be Indigenous Peoples day to be honest, and Arthri1s Day?  Your body is aware, I know mine is.

For the record, this is not The Cherokee Indians, I am not even sure they had boats, maybe canoes. and kinda crazzy to understand the connection, other than some sort of way to? I don’t know. In fact anything I say is ignorant, and just won’t be smart, so better off shutting up. Maybe just call today Ignorant Peoples Day. Anyway, Happy day, we all get to take a break from work, and we can focus on?

Great graphics

Happy Sportsman day?

Up here in the ANE (Atlantic NorthEast, in case you didn’t know) many companies swap today’s holiday (whatever you want to call it) for the day after Thanksgiving, so most businesses are open and people are working.

Well, Matt, you are now officially on the list of the thought police. No doubt guilty of carrying concealed ideas, aiding and abetting cultural appropriation, and probably other various anti-woke crimes.

I’m disappointed the famous (infamous?) picture of Dick Werner isnt part of this story.

Also disappointed I couldnt find it in my archives…..

Happy Columbus Day everyone. He was a true early Woodyboater.
Having a very small bit of Cherokee in my ancestry, and always having an interest in Native American philosophy, I would also say Happy Indigenous Peoples Day. Many were also Woodyboaters. And given they were the original inhabitants of this great land, I think they deserve a day.
However, not in replacement of Columbus Day or as a protest against Columbus Day which it seems like it was created for. Ugh. Make it it’s own separate day.
And all these other various days….. especially arthritis day. I agree, I don’t think anyone from their 40’s on needs an arthritis awareness day. We’re all aware already…… except Doctor’s Day. That one’s cool. What we need is Antique and Classic Boat Day. Or is that every summer day?

Nice writeup Matt, but if you go to Wikipedia and type “Columbus Day” and “Italians” you will see that there is a different reason for the original Columbus Day in 1892. I agree that there should be a separate day honoring all Indigenous people.
