What Do Dyrk Godby, LunaSea, And Jakes Auto Repair Have In Common?

Jakes Auto Repair said it all
Well, glad you asked. In our little Oregon Trail adventure, some days are just kinda left up to the gods. No matter how hard you try, it’s kinda like surfing the life wave rather than trying to stay put. Such was the case in our little 3 hour expected tour to the Oregon coast from Bend. I will let the pictures tell the story. And I get to make up the captions. Which sadly are real.

As seen in Sisters Oregon on the way. Best name ever. I want to be named that one day.

Headed up the Willamette Mountain area. Big mountains. And PING, right at the top of the mountain . The tire light comes on. Now, we are at least 45 minutes from NO WHERE. LIKE, at the top of a mountain. But the temperature had dropped so I thought for sure it was a sensitive sensor, and BTW, NO place to pull over. High drama though, because in fact, the right rear tire had a huge something in it. And the tire pressure was dropping. SO? I did what any good woody boater would do, I powered on. It wasnt flat, but going flat. 20 minutes in found a Chevron. Checked the pressure. 10 lbs… no repair place, and get this, the air compressor was not working. So, another 20 minutes to the next gas station, filled with air on a very close to ) presure tire. BTW, NO SPARE. F’n new cars. AND some more googling, a repair shop in MKenzie Oregon. Jakes.

Jakes was open and could help

The Boatress being concerned.

The place had my name written all over it. Jake was the man!

This ones for you Troy

Jake and I were both shocked this went into the tire. It was no nail. YIKES. But we got back on the road, and made it to the coast in about 2 hours, so all in all it was a bout a 4-5 hr drive. But we made it. First stop Yachats Orgegon. Pronounced YA -hots the name comes from the Siletz language and means “at the foot of the mountain”. and The Siletz (pronounced sih-lets) were the southernmost of several divisions of the Tillamook people speaking a distinct dialect;

I did get one of the bathrooms. I know you all have come to expect that now.

And of course we are all fogged in, so this is the Pacific ocean. Really. If you want to capture the real emotion of the moment. Go stare at a grey wall and turn on a fan. Thats it.

The good news is we had the best fish and chips on the planet at Luna Sea Seafood in Yachats. INSANE. Like I am not a fish and chips person and mother of god it was good. The owner of the restaurant is a fish captain and its all fresh. Worth the trip just for that. Hopefully the Boatress isnt watching today I picked her good side
STAY TUNED. Today, we head to Astoria and are staying in a Canary. If we make it. Thats a dramatic cliff hanger by the way.

Boatress is gonna killllll you!
Safe travels and thanks for the entertainment!
Thanks for thinking of me!
You will have to come up and try a Bet’s Fish Fry. She used to own her own fishing boat and had a sign that read “The fish you eat today ate late last night.”.
I hope you left a good tip.
Sounds like quite an adventure. The Oregon coast can be pretty. Enjoy Astoria. It is a cool place
Pacific City Beach Oregon
Hopefully Matt you and the Boatress make it here. Hands down the best clam chowder I have ever had at the Pelican Brewing restaurant about where the picture was taken. Give Mike M a big hug when you see him from me. Hopefully you have a fun and uneventful rest of your trip.
Um, I hope to God you are staying in an old Cannery (probably salmon or oysters) and not a canary, which is a little yellow birdy.
Make sure you have fish and chips today in Astoria at the Bow Picker which is basically across the street. It’s not fish and chips, it’s tuna and chips! The best!
